Shopping can be difficult. For me, the problem isn’t so much finding nice things, it’s deciding how much wear I will actually get out of them. It breaks my heart to spend money on something that will only be worn a few times, which is why a little fashion forecasting can go a long way.
Knowing the upcoming “it” styles ahead of time allows us to stay on-trend while making smarter purchases. Don’t get me wrong, I love acquiring new items, but why not acquire the right ones, those you love most and will wear most? That’s what I’m planning to do, and I’m here to help you do the same.
I know that Spring seems far away, but as it’s way closer than you think! As the new season approaches, I will be providing detailed fashion forecasts for different categories in the fashion landscape. For now, here is a short overview of five trends we’ll be seeing everywhere this spring.
1. Fringe of All Kinds
Fringe was a popular trend in the ’70s and began its resurgence in the fashion world last year. For 2016, expect to see even more of this boho detail.
This season, fringe will be absolutely everywhere, so go wild if you love this look. You can expect to see fringe adorning everything from jewelry to handbags, clothing, and shoes.
2. Suede Everything
Suede is another flashback from the ’70s that began to trend again last year. Like fringe, it has reemerged and is here to stay for 2016.
There are so many great ways to wear this trend, but I especially like high-waisted suede skirts, suede ankle boots, and suede handbags. In addition, Suede + Fringe makes for an amazing combo!
3. Open Shoulders
Last summer, cold shoulder tops and dresses were everywhere! In 2016, this trend is continuing…but with a twist.
ELLE calls it the “X-Factor” — essentially, it’s an intersecting high neckline that bares the shoulder…quite literally! See the photos below for examples:
4. Bold & Bright Athletic Wear as Casual Wear
Wearing athletic clothes strictly to the gym is a thing of the past. With the emergence of the Athleisure trend, our gym clothes have become both practical and stylish and are often worn daily.
This upcoming Spring, athletic wear will be bolder and more wearable than ever. Forget your all-black gym outfit, as well: Keep your eyes peeled for iridescent colors, edgy silhouettes, and amazing comfort!
5. Pantone’s “Rose Quartz” & “Serenity”
By now, you’ve probably heard all about these trending shades (we’ve already done posts on how to wear both of them). Rose Quartz, a pale pink, represents compassion and composure, while Serenity, a pastel blue, represents balance and peace.
These colors will be all over stores this spring, splashed across everything from dresses to jackets. However, I am especially excited to wear these colors in accessories such as handbags and jewelry!
What trends are you excited to wear?
I hope that you’re inspired. In the weeks to come, I’ll be sharing more fashion forecasts and I would love to hear what you think of these upcoming trends! Which ones have you already adopted or plan to adopt? Let me know in a comment.
