Hautelinks: Week of 11/11/10

Hautelinks - your weekly source for the best of the web

* Oh my god, Damn You Auto Correct is my new favorite blog – it’s so funny. Like the title suggests, it’s all about what happens when the iPhone’s autocorrect feature gets it wrong… very wrong…

* Style bloggers Kendi from Kendi Everyday and Elaine from Clothed Much both blogged about breaking the fashion rules this week. Amen!

* While we all love Black Friday, we don’t recommend you put off your shopping trips ’til then! According to Stylelist, you might be able to get even better deals right now.

* 10 crazy gifts from the Neiman Marcus 2010 Holiday Christmas Catalog! That gingerbread house is INSANE.

* Reaching for black clothing a little too often? Refinery 29’s list of color combos that wow will inspire you to break out of your neutrals-only funk.

* Jason Schwartzman is my hero.

* Staying on the topic of color combos, this old but good post from The Fashion Bomb breaks down the color wheel and shows you how to combine hues for the most aesthetically-pleasing look.

* Have you guys spotted fur animal hoods around your campus? According to Connie at R29, these are supposedly really huge at USC. Personally, I don’t get this trend, but to each her own..

* The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show taped last night, and Fashionista lists the 10 most ridiculous looks from the extravaganza.

* An mp3 player that doubles as jewelry? I want one!

* Apparently people are buzzing about Snooki’s “toned-down look” at the MTV Europe Awards… Is it just us, or does she not look that different?

* Don’t wanna shell out for designer band aids? (Yes, they exist!) NYLON suggests you DIY them.

* Why rejection is good from you, from The Daily Mail, is really inspiring. After all, even Anna Wintour has been fired before, guys!

* Already Pretty breaks down the most “thriftable” fall trends.

* A Letter to My Freshman Self, via CollegeCandy, will have you nodding your head at every sentence!

* VenusZine lists 6 new music books you’ll want to add to your non-school reading list!

* This is weird: A new site called Skin of Mine allows you to upload a photo of your skin, which it then somehow analyzes to tell you what you need to fix. Personally, I’d rather not have a computer document all my skin’s flaws, but it’s still an interesting idea.

* Um, wow. The new James Franco movie 127 Hours sounds intense, to say the least. I still kinda want to see it.

* Women and Shoes, from Cosmo, documents the world’s most timeless love story. ;)

* Refinery 29 has a really great guide to spicing up your basic blouses.

* Leighton Meester will be the face of Vera Wang’s next perfume! Sounds like a good match.

* According to WWD, everyone’s favorite reality queen/athlete dater Kim Kardashian is expanding her brand… with a new Kardashian clothing line and “kredit kard” in the works.

* Chictopia has an awesome guide to DIY t-shirt weaving, and it doesn’t look thaat difficult to pull off.

* We can’t get enough of Katie Evans’ blog! A graphic designer for Kate Spade, she draws pictures of cute things she bought, and the results are adorable, to say the least.

* Ellegirl shows you how to steal Zoe Saldana’s fabulous sense of style.
