Now that the weather is frigid and the holiday season is in full swing, summer may just seem like a distant memory. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t rock your favorite summer wardrobe staples all winter long!
In this post, we’ll show you how to take three perpetual summer faves and style them into three cold weather-appropriate outfits.
Summer Staple #1: A Sundress
Even though the temperature has dropped significantly, you don’t have to let your favorite sundress collect dust in the back of your closet! A little strategic layering will take a sleeveless dress from summer sands to snowy sidewalks.
For this look, we took an adorable mint frock and layered a bow-neck blouse underneath it to create a fashion-forward look. The polka dot blouse not only matches the pattern found on the dress, but also works with the color of the belt. Next, add a cozy dark gray coat as well as a pair of lighter gray tights. Riding boots keep the look casual and daytime-appropriate, while bird-shaped earrings add an adorable touch. Grab a pair of stylish knit gloves to complete this look.
Summer Staple #2: Denim Cut-offs
Denim cutoffs are the ultimate low-key summer staple, but you can easily work these shorts into your winter wardrobe by pairing them with lots of oversized knits and layers.
For example, try pairing denim shorts with a wine red long-sleeved top to create a cute and comfy look. Layer on a blanket wrap cardigan, as well as a pair of warm tights. Heeled ankle boots are a trendy, yet practical choice, while a mustard yellow hat adds a pretty pop of color. For the finishing touch, accessorize with a long chevron necklace.
Summer Staple #3: A Maxi Skirt
The key to wearing a glam maxi skirt during winter? Layer a pair of leggings or tights underneath! This will keep your legs toasty and allow you to rock that effortless boho look year-round.
For an on-trend winter outfit, pair a purple maxi skirt (with leggings underneath, of course) with a sequin-adorned striped sweater. Neutral-colored ballet flats are a chic and comfy choice, while a faux leather jacket gives the outfit some rock ‘n’ roll edge. Add a floral print scarf, which lends another dose of pattern and color to the look, then accessorize with some glamorous chandelier earrings.
