Summer is almost here and we all know what that means – it’s time to go shopping for cute swimwear if you haven’t started already! I’ve scoured the top swimsuits retailers and found the best of the best for any price range and budget. From bikinis to one-pieces, here is your ultimate guide to the top five hottest must-have bathing suit trends for summer ’07.
- Bold Prints
One of Spring 2007’s hottest trends was big, bold, printed patterns on absolutely everything. This 70’s-inspired trend is going to continue for Summer 2007 in the form of swimwear. Go for paisley prints, plaid, and the brightest colors you can handle to rock this trend. - Eyelet and Crochet
Eyelet lace has been a popular trend this spring, and the super girly fabric is going to stay hot for summer. Romantic bikinis with lace and crochet accents in cool colors like white, blue, and green are classy and stylish choices for the beach or pool. - Horizontal Stripes
This sporty bathing suit trend is a spin off from the nautical clothing we saw all spring. Horizontal stripes are very flattering on most body types (unlike their vertical counterparts), and the striped bikinis this season look great in most all colors and widths. - Polka Dots
Yes, this summer you will be totally in style if you wear an itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow polka dot bikini. Or a green polka dot bikini. Or blue. The best ways to wear this trend: choose any mix of classic black and white, or get a bright candy-colored bikini with white polka dots. - Sexy One-Pieces and Monokinis
Shakira and Beyonce are to blame for this sexy new trend, which was first seen in their video for “Beautiful Liar.” It just goes to show that you don’t need a bikini to look hot at the beach. Cut out one-pieces and “monokinis” are great options if you want to show some skin without revealing too much.
hot hot hot

Come to think about it, those crocheted type of bathing suits are becoming a trend in my country (the philippines). Well, it really does look good.

After three kids I can only dream about having a bikini tummy again! 😉
Great post, helpful info, even for fashion-challenged older women (well, not TOO old, just older…)! Really great presentation on your blog with the catalog, well done! Live, Love & Laugh, Sherri
Where is the style that looks like shorts on your list? That is a huge trend….I never saw that style before recently. Do guys not like them??
Good post.
Tom – It’s okay, that’s what the one pieces are for! ha ha
Dexie – Aw! Yeah I like the crochet ones that have a little extra detail as well. Bright colors or little accents can make a huge difference.
Loopy – Well, most of the bikinis are on professional models, and we all know that most models are super-skinny. Glad you liked the, um, post.
Personally, I like the polka-dotted swimsuits the best – for one, polka dots are always cute and they’re currently on everything, and two, they kinda make the swimsuit wearer look younger!
I have a combination of a curvy/ athletic /hourglass body type. Do you think the monokini would be a good bathing suit choice for my body type ?
Where are the boobs! …jezus… flat as a bloody ironingboard! YUK!
(love the redhead though “Shoshanna Crochet” ..she’s HOT HOT HOOOOOOOT)
