The 91st annual Academy Awards were held last Sunday, February 24th, officially wrapping up the 2019 awards show season! (Sad!)
If you’ve read some of my other posts, you know that I love watching all of the different awards shows. I especially love seeing what the stars wear on the red carpet!
The 2019 Oscars were filled with some amazing looks! We saw many fun, pink gowns, a tuxedo ball gown, and even this:
Oscar night, overall, was a fun-filled event that even those at home could experience! Now let’s take a look at what some of the stars wore to the big night, and some formal looks inspired by them:
Lady Gaga in Classic Black
Lady. Gaga. What can I say?! Not only did Lady Gaga take home her first Oscar for the song “Shallow” from A Star Is Born but she also set an awards record! She is the first person in history to bring home a Golden Globe, BAFTA, Grammy, and an Academy Award in a single year. That’s crazy!
Lady Gaga stunned in a dramatic black gown by Alexander McQueen.
She looked absolutely gorgeous accessorizing with black gloves and…THE ICONIC, 128 CARAT TIFFANY DIAMOND! (The largest yellow diamond in the WORLD!!!) This necklace was last seen on Audrey Hepburn for Breakfast at Tiffany’s! Lady Gaga ruled the red carpet in this look.
Everyone needs a black dress and it would definitely come in handy for replicating Lady Gaga’s Oscars style! Here are some affordable options.
Each dress has it’s own flare just like Lady Gaga’s. You may not be able to get your hands on the Tiffany Diamond, but throw on your favorite jewelry and you will look just as glam!

Constance Wu in Floaty Yellow
Can you say Belle of the Ball? Constance Wu looked like a real life fairytale in this custom Versace gown.
Constance was actually inspired by Crazy Rich Asians director, Jon M. Chu, who sent Coldplay a thank you letter for taking the negative connotation away from the color yellow! How cool is that?
Constance’s dress had a wispy, pleated nature to it and the color is everything! Here are some colorful dresses that you can try for a look similar to this one:
Regina King in Sleek White & High Slit
Regina King dazzled in a beautiful white Oscar de la Renta gown. More importantly, she took home her first every Oscar for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk.
I’d say that she also took home the award for the highest slit on the carpet! Her Oscars look was sleek, bold, and fabulous.
For an award winning formal look, try a dress that has a slit! It doesn’t have to be as high as Regina’s, you can find one that fits your comfort level. Whatever you choose, I’m sure you will look just as fierce as she did!
