Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. This column will focus on one piece per week, and teach you how to take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.
From the runways at Fashion Week to your local Forever 21, neon has topped the list of spring trends for the past few years. Even though the trend has been popping up absolutely everywhere, some college girls (myself included) have shied away from the bright color phenomenon, sticking to a loud accessory or two and sighing with envy at the eye-popping neon outfits that have taken the fashion world by storm.
This spring, though, I've decided to go bold and face the world of neon head on - and I'm taking you with me! In this post, I'll be showing you how to style a gorgeous neon coral tank top for class and a night out.
Neon Top: Class
I decided to go with a neon coral top because it's a bit more subtle than the highlighter colors du jour, which makes the look easier to put together, and more appropriate for the classroom. Pair the tank with a springtime staple, a pair of white jeans or shorts, to make the color stand out more. Since the air might still be a little nippy (or maybe your school loves keeping the A/C on max) try out a slouchy gray cardigan to bring a bit of balance to the look.
Since coral looks gorgeous with turquoise, keep that in mind when accessorizing - I'm in love with these turquoise drop earrings! To avoid too loud of a look, keep your shoes and bag basic by choosing a plain brown satchel and cute Toms.
Neon Top: Night Out
For your night look, keep it minimal... but bright. A plain black miniskirt will ensure the focus is on the neon. Bring back the touch of turquoise from your day look and go all out with bright neon turquoise accessories, like platform sandals and layered bracelets. A fun ring with more muted stones completes this ultra-fun look.
What do you think?
