Hey CF readers! Welcome back to our fashion trends series where we show you how to get the latest runway and celebrity fashion trends on a budget.
Last week we looked at the utility trend, which is super *in* right now.
Another trend that’s gaining traction again is the netting trend. It’s been all over the spring runways and celebrities are loving it. As the spring approaches, now is the perfect time to snag the look for yourself.
HIGH FASHION TREND: Netting
Sonia Rykiel’s SS 2019 show featured quite a few designs with the netting trend. She added a mix of thin and thicker weaves and splashes of color like Cardamom yellow.
Even metal netting is showing up on catwalks, an edgy take on the trend. Paco Rabanne introduced this to his line:
Ports 1961 has loved the netting look with long tassels, for a crocheted feel:
In addition to Ports 1961, JW Anderson, Chloé, and Studio Verandah have embraced the look. See the designs in this photoset:
Celebrities in Netting:
Haily Bieber wore a netted dress by Ports 1961 alongside her husband.
Spotted wearing a midi-length net-dress was Ciara on the set of her video for Greatest Love.
Nicki Minaj also is a fan of her netting, wearing her fishnets throughout her tour.
How to Buy the Netting Trend on a Budget:
Affordable Netting, Option #1:
Product: Fish Net Crop Top; $13 – Boohoo
This option is great if you’re looking to just add a simple piece to your closet with netting. The fishnet crop can be layered over a bralette as seen on the model, or also over a full length tank top/bodysuit and paired with skinny jeans and black boots.
You could also accessorize with hoop earrings, a bold belt, and studded boots. Alternatively, to dress up the look, you can wear knee-high, heeled boots or strappy heels.
Affordable Netting, Options #2-4:
The next three options are perfect if you want subtle net-detailing without the need for layering.
Product: Fish Net Bodycon Dress; $58 – Boohoo
This nude bodycon dress comes with dainty net details complete with brass studding.
You can pair the dress with your stilettos or gladiator sandals. Also consider adding a black blazer for a spring night out.
Accessorize with gold dangle earrings and bangles or stacked bracelets.
Product: Lace & Mesh Midi Dress; $22 – ASOS
This dress makes for a lovely spring night outfit. You can wear this piece with your sandals or flats and pair with a cropped cardigan.
Statement earrings or bracelets are great for this dress because the neckline eliminates any need for a necklace. Also consider wearing a beautiful high-arm bracelet cuff like this one.
Product: Shift Dress; $70 – ASOS
ASOS is nailing this netting trend. This white-hot number is great for a night out dancing with your friends or for a first date.
Pair with white sandals or heels and add some subtle jewelry like colorful earrings.
Affordable Netting, Options #5-7:
These next three options are actually ideal for layering or keeping on hand for beach cover-ups this summer!
Product: Metallic Maxi Net Dress; $35 – Nasty Gal
I love the idea of this metallic maxi dress layered over a simple slip dress like this one.
Layer strands of gold necklaces for a boho look.
Product: Net Mini Dress; $30 – Nasty Gal
Layer this white mini dress over your biker shorts and crop top for a sporty and ’90s look!
You can finish the throwback look with stylish sneakers and a belt bag!
Product: Net Strappy Maxi Dress; $35 – Nasty Gal
Like the first option, this dress would be great over a slip dress. Another option is a bold matching bandeau and mini skirt set underneath.
Because the look is so bold, you can keep accessories to a minimum and possibly add a statement necklace.
