Today, I want to talk about fashion inspiration. Sometimes, it can be difficult to come up with new outfits, and I often get asked about how you’re supposed to keep up with it all. In an industry where everything changes every other day, how do you stay inspired without buying a whole new wardrobe weekly?

There’s a lot of creativity involved in fashion – even if it’s just in choosing how you wear the few basic pieces you have. Just like artists and writers look for inspiration to keep their creativity flowing, fashionistas need inspiration, too!

There are many ways to find fashion inspiration (which I’ll discuss more later), but one easy way is to have a celebrity fashion muse.

What is a celebrity fashion muse?

A celebrity fashion muse is someone you look to for fashion inspiration. You can check out what this celebrity wears, take notes on how they wear different items, what colors look good on them, etc. It’s a way to keep your style current while you learn about fashion.

Taking fashion notes from a celebrity is also a good way to get a feel for how your body type may look in different types of clothing. Want to try a pair of high-waisted pants but aren’t sure if they’ll look right?

Let your celebrity fashion muse do it first, and observe their results before you buy a pair yourself.

Why celebrities?

These days, they have really amazing stylists and are basically walking fashion editorials going to Starbucks. And because these famous people pay a professional to dress them and have access to all the latest designer clothes, observing them is a great way to find out about the newest trends & pieces before they hit stores.

How To Pick A Celebrity Fashion Muse

So, how do you go about choosing a celeb to be your fashion inspiration of the moment? Here are some points to consider when you go about finding the perfect one.

  • Look for someone who looks like you. In terms of hair color, height, etc., look for someone that you think you resemble. Don’t expect to find a perfect clone of yourself in Hollywood, but find someone that you identify with.
  • Find a celeb with a similar body type. This isn’t a must, but it really helps when it comes to figuring out what types of clothes will look best on you.
  • Look for a similar sense of personal style. Another bonus. If you can find a celeb who’s personal style resembles your own, that’s another great way to get inspiration and exposure to new pieces that you may like.

Here are some examples of celebrity fashion muses to get you started. These are just some examples of celebrities with large followings – if you hate them all, feel free to find your own!

1. Hailey Bieber

Channel Hailey’s effortlessly cool street style with oversized blazers, cropped tees, and high-waisted mom jeans. Don’t forget chunky sneakers and sleek shades for a finishing touch.

2. Zendaya

Embrace Zendaya‘s bold and fearless fashion sense by rocking vibrant colors, daring patterns, and unexpected silhouettes. Think power suits with feminine details, dramatic capes, and statement jewelry.

3. Rihanna

Rihanna’s style is all about owning your sexiness and confidence. Think bodycon dresses with thigh-high slits, oversized denim jackets over lingerie, and sky-high heels. Neon accents and statement accessories are your friends.

4. Sofia Richie

If you love a feminine vibe with an “old money” feel, Sofia’s your girl. Neutral-toned maxi dresses, delicate lace tops, and quiet luxury basics are staples in her wardrobe.

5. Selena Gomez

Selena’s style is all about effortless chic with a playful twist. Think comfy rompers, cute sundresses, and vintage-inspired denim paired with sneakers or ankle boots. Don’t forget a pop of color!

6. Taylor Swift

Taylor’s style has evolved from country charm to sophisticated glam. Channel her current vibe with preppy staples like pleated skirts and cable-knit sweaters, or embrace her love for feminine dresses and bold red lips.

7. Bella Hadid

Bella’s street style is all about edgy sophistication. She loves crop tops, low-rise jeans, leather jackets, and graphic tees paired with sneakers and Y2K bags. Don’t shy away from bold makeup and statement sunglasses.

8. Tiffany Young

Tiffany’s style is a playful mix of K-pop trends and Western chic, with bold colors, quirky prints, and unexpected pairings like feminine dresses with statement sneakers. Rock a high ponytail and statement earrings for extra points.

9. Ashley Graham

Ashley‘s all about celebrating curves and owning your confidence. Think bodycon dresses with bold prints, high-waisted jeans with crop tops, and statement jackets that accentuate your figure.

10. Billie Eilish

Billie’s style is as unique as her music. To get her vibe, go for oversized streetwear, baggy silhouettes, and bold graphic prints. Layer on necklaces, rings, and bucket hats for an extra dose of her signature edge.

Remember, these are just starting points! Don’t be afraid to mix and match elements from different muses or add your own personal touch. The most important thing is to feel confident and express your unique style. So channel your inner fashion icon and rock those outfits with sass!

One Reminder:

A quick note of caution on this: When you look for inspiration in celebrity outfits, always add your own individual twist to their look. It’s no fun to copy someone’s outfit piece for piece: it’s like fashion plagiarism!

Let celebrity outfits and styles inspire you, but don’t rip the picture out of the magazine and buy every single piece. Have the confidence to wear your own version of their look and change it to suit you.

What do you think?

Now that you know all about celebrity fashion inspiration, I want to know: who is your celebrity fashion muse? Are there any famous girls whose styles inspire you? Let me know what you think by leaving a comment! Also, tell me if you think there’s anyone I forgot here.

Check back again soon for more sources of fashion inspiration – I’m going to be talking more about this in the weeks to come.

  1. i dont have a fashion muse!

i always try to find the right one for me but i never seem to be able to. ive tried miley cyrus and selena gomez. but they dont really match my style.

my style is kind of plain with one really out there piece. i go all over the place. one day girly, one day boho, one day rocker..

anyways. im brunette, tan and have greenish brown eyes. and huge boobs. that really narrows down what i can wear since my boobs always make me look humongous. im not petite either. im tall and skinny.

can some one help me find a fashion muse please????

  2. I absolutely love Vanessa Hudgens, personally. She has a unique, laid back sense of style with a boho flair. I love how she glams up her look with gorgeous accessories, too. I have black hair, chocolate brown eyes, olive skin and I’m petite, so she’s my muse for both fashion and beauty. =)

I also love Zooey Deschanel, because she has a beautiful indie look, and Selena Gomez, because she knows how to make jeans look glam. I’m a bit of a tomboy so Selena’s style really suits me, too.
Vanessa Abrams (from Gossip Girl) has an amazing wardrobe as well! She combines designer pieces with vintage accessories, giving her a great, funky look. I love it.

This article is so good! I hope you write one on Vanessa Hudgens.

  4. Of your recommendations, my favorite is Jessica Simpson. However, I’m much taller than she is (5’7″!), have a bigger butt and thighs, and have shorter, slightly darker hair. Any suggestions?

  5. Rachel Bilson, Leighton Meester and Lauren Gottlieb of so You Think You Can Dance 3 fame are my fashion muses. Rachel’s boho/classic look with Leighton’s clean cut style mixed with Lauren’s sharpe edge = awesome.

  7. Wow, I’m surprised at all the Lohan requests. I didn’t realize she had such a following in the fashion world. I’ll definitely make sure to talk about her next!

Melia – I am with you on Zooey – she’s really cute and has nice indie vibe going.

Jada – You’re so right about Rihanna! She dresses really well and always looks high-fashion in a really wearable way.

Hannie – The Ting Ting’s rock! I’m just getting into their music lately – they are going to be the next big thing for sure 🙂

  8. I love this article, my celebrity fashion muse is Lauren Conrad. I love her because like you said she wears lots of basic stuff but still looks fashionable and I love that about her. I also get inspirations from Eva Longoria because I work at Express and I need to have a style that compliments my store and the shoes that are in and Eva Longoria never seems to fail me on the shoe part. My other inspirations are of course Nicole Richie and Rachel Bilson everytime I feel a little boho. 🙂
I used to love Mischa Barton, but anytime I need info on how to wear flats I use her as my inspiration since she knows how to rock flats. And I have to give you some kudos for what you said, “When you look for inspiration in celebrity outfits, always add your own individual twist to their look.” It is so true, and that is what I do. Great article!

  9. I love Rachel Bilson’s style. It’s very similar to my own. M.I.A. looks amazing, and definitely inspiring.

I have the same problem as Stacy – I’m Asian, and sadly, there are a lack of us in Hollywood. It’s very hard to find anyone with the same skin tone as I have, since I’m darker than most Asian celebrities (they’re all fair, fair, fair). So when it comes to finding someone who looks like me, I’m stuck. Oh well.

  12. i resemble nelly furtado a little- skin color and jawline, so i like to have her as an inspiration for makeup.. as for my clothings- i like to mix and match, and I’m pretty small but very thin, so i still haven’t found my fashion muse yet!

From the list given above, i would probably opt for Rachel and Victoria Beckham, and also audrina patridge from the hills! 😀
