April showers bring May flowers, so they say. If you’ve been trying to dodge the rain while maintaining a stylish wardrobe, why not try spring’s must-have jacket, an anorak?

You may be wondering… How is that a hot new trend? I won’t argue that anoraks haven’t been around forever – but never before have they been the ultra-trendy, must-have item of spring. With so many designers creating their own styles, it’s tough to ignore this trend.

Don’t feel bad if you don’t know the difference between a parka and an anorak. After reading about them in several magazines and blogs, I asked google the same question. Traditionally, anoraks have hoods, are shorter, and have drawstrings around the waist, while parkas are longer and less fitted (and the winter versions often contain down). Both styles are waterproof and perfect for casual spring wear.

Budget-friendly styles…

Anorak Shopping

Product Information: Betsey Johnson at Nordstrom, Mossimo at Target, and Forever 21.

No matter what your style may be, there’s now an anorak to fit it. Whether it’s piped with pink and polka dotted or strictly utilitarian, there’s a style out there for everyone. Pair yours with a cute dress or cargo pants – either way it’s hard to go wrong.

Would you wear an anorak?

Leave a comment below and share your thoughts! Which street style look is your favorite? Do you have an anorak? If so, what do you wear it with?

I rocked my anorak last fall, and it’s making a comeback! I love this on a warm, rainy day with a spring dress or shorts and a slouchy tank or tee shirt.

Yes, it’s very practical! However, I do wonder if the piece is becoming too “trendy”, as I see practically every fashion blogger donning one!

I bought an anorak in the fall and it has been really good to have from rainy fall days to warmer winter days and now to rainy spring days! Definitely worth buying.

This has been a trend for a while, maybe about 2 or 3 years. An anorak is very practical and I think it looks super cute with more girly dresses or skirts. In my opinion, I think it works best in the fall, it seems too heavy for spring. Regardless, I think it’s a piece that you can keep for a long time and it will always be in style. It is really trendy, but so are leather jackets, and that doesn’t stop us from wearing them!

I’ve had the red polka dot one for a year. It’s fantastic for rainy days and super cute!

Anoraks make me think of “twee” and Kevin Turvey.

In a world filled with so much variety and individuality, there is a growing demand for young upcoming designers to step to the plate od adversity and pursue their creativity for a thirsty generation. For so long I have been afraid to pursue my dream of fashion design due to the adverse nature of young aspiring designers who, like myslef, feel that either their style is too different or can not survive the deands of the fashion world or further can’t find that window oppurtunity to harvest their talent. I love the fact that Jason Wu, a young college designer is takiing the courageous annitiative to pursue his dream of fashion, catering to the generation that intails the highest revenue in the fashion epoch. In retrospect, I encourage others, not to exclude myself, to pursue their passion for their is a world of thirsty people for what it is you love to do so much. Now, go and quinch their thirst, for you have the juice!

I love anoraks! They are so cute and a lighter way to wear an “outer-covering” for spring! I try to wear my dark olive green army-inspired anorak at least once a week. I also pinned a Mockingjay pin to it! 🙂

These are awesome! And I love how they are sooooo practical!! Everytime I use an umbrella, it gets destroyed, so I’d much rather wear a nice trendy looking coat with a hood that will last longer than 5 minutes.

    These are AWESOME!!!!

I am usually not the type for ‘tougher’ clothing styles, but these anoraks are done really well and still look feminine. Unfortunately, it seems that the nice ones are only available across the ocean … I totally love the Nordstrom anorak.

Anyone that doesn’t know the difference between a parka and an anorak clearly has never lived in a place where you need a parka.

Love the Mossimo one! I have a great anorak that’s turquoise that I got for when I went to London. It really comes in handy when I don’t want to carry around an umbrella all day!
