This post is all about the faux fur fashion trend and how to add some faux fur to your wardrobe without spending a lot.
‘Tis the season to break out the faux fur!
While it’s never really gone out of style, faux fur is back this Autumn/Winter season in new ways that are going to make your outfits pop and look that much chicer.
There’s no denying that faux fur just looks luxurious, and gives clothing, accessories, and shoes a more elevated effect – while being cruelty-free! A total win-win.
I’ve rounded up twelve faux fur fashion finds, all $75 or less. Read on for my top picks below, with something to suit your style whether you’re trendy, girly, or edgy.
This faux leather moto-style aviator jacket with faux fur trim looks so luxe yet so badass at the same time. The plush faux fur balances out the edgy vibe for the perfect stylish combination.
This jacket is ultra-versatile, too: it looks just as cool over casual clothing like a sweatshirt and joggers as it does for dressier looks.
Plaid Faux Fur Felt Beret Hat
Not only does it have an adorable blue plaid print, but its material is faux fur felt! I mean, how fabulous.
Black Leather Loafer Mules
This is one of the most popular faux fur fashion items around — you’ve probably seen these all over Instagram! These black leather loafer mules with a faux fur lining are a take on Gucci’s iconic design, but at a fraction of the designer cost.
The classic loafer style looks chic, while the faux fur lining, which is also visible on the exterior of the shoe, gives it an elevated, luxe look.
These loafers are also super easy to slip on and off, making them an unfussy shoe option when you’re running out the door!
Plaid Bomber Jacket
In my opinion, this the best time of the year to rock red-colored plaid, and this red and black plaid bomber jacket with a faux fur collar has such a cute, seasonal look to it.
The bomber cut of the jacket gives it a modern vibe, while the sherpa-esque fur collar is such a fun take on the faux fur fashion trend.
And if you aren’t feeling the faux fur, the collar detaches, giving you additional ways to wear this jacket.
Faux Fur Trim Knit Cardigan
You may have spotted this fur-trimmed cardigan sweater making its rounds on the fashion set of TikTok, and for good reason: it gives off major ’90s/early 2000s vibes that are so on-trend right now.
Style it with some loose-fitting jeans and a pearl necklace for a trendy look.
Side note: this cardigan reminds me of something the Olsen twins would have worn during their Passport to Paris days (in the best way possible) – does anyone else catch that vibe, too?
Faux Fur Jacket
What sets this faux fur jacket apart from others is its jersey lining.
We love to feel comfortable in our clothes, so this soft, jersey lining (a.k.a. the material many sweatshirts are made of) is a game-changer.
Aside from the soft-on-your-skin interior, the exterior faux fur is cozy and done in a rich brown tone which looks super chic.
Vinyl and Faux Fur Crossbody Bag
To say I’m obsessed with this bag would be an understatement.
I am living for the combination of vinyl, faux fur, and a metal chain strap! We love a textured look; mixing materials has such a fashionable effect.
This crossbody bag comes in three gorgeous color options: stone/green (shown above), gray/pink, and black/brown (my personal favorite). They are all equally chic and will give your outfits major flair.
Faux Fur Duster Cardigan
Turn up the cozy factor with this faux fur duster cardigan. It comes in two neutral hues: ivory and a light beige color (shown above).
The fuzzy faux fur material looks super soft, and I love how it looks worn over laid-back loungewear. Of course, it would also look adorable paired with jeans or faux leather leggings for more polished outfits, too!
Faux Fur Pom Beanie Hat
A faux fur pom beanie hat is a quintessential winter accessory that looks adorable on anyone!
This cable knit version comes in five different colors, all of which would complement your winter wardrobe.
The oversized fur pom-pom on the top makes for the cutest touch, while the wool-blend knit will help to keep you warm in cold weather.
Belted Faux Fur Coat
Sometimes you just want to look (and feel) ~fancy~.
Nothing says luxurious like a long, faux fur coat! This coat is a show-stopper and will look especially fabulous with your holiday outfits.
I picked this particular coat because it comes with a matching faux fur belt to cinch your waist. This helps to retain your shape and not let the coat totally overwhelm your body.
It comes in black and taupe (shown above), both of which are versatile shades, so it’ll be tough to choose between the two options!
Faux Fur Animal Print Coat
If you prefer an edgier look but still want to rock faux fur fashion, this animal print moto jacket is for you.
Its design is similar to a leather moto jacket, with wide lapels and a dual-zip front, done in a plush faux fur featuring an eye-catching animal print.
This jacket would look super cool paired with some faux leather leggings and black booties.
Faux Fur Shopper
One of the most unexpected faux fur fashion trends of the season? Faux fur tote or “shopper” bags.
We talked about this trend in our list of gifts for college girls, and we had to include another option here. Faux fur is such a fun twist on this classic shape of a bag, and feels especially fitting for winter months when cozy, heavier materials reign.
This shopper features two handles and a magnetic snap closure, making it easy for you to slide your belongings in and out.
Also available in black, the reviews all rave about how plush the bag’s faux fur is.
Bonus: Tips and Tricks for Working Faux Fur into an Outfit
- Try a faux fur vest. I got mine on sale for $20 at American Eagle last season, so this piece does not have to be a huge splurge. Fur vests look awesome with jeans and a long sleeved shirt, or a simple dress, leggings and boots.
- Try small accents. If you’re hesitant about this look, try a faux fur scarf or purse for a hint of the trend. I also love jackets with fur trimming on the collars and sleeves.
- Keep it simple if you’re unsure. I love faux fur with florals and stripes, but my boho style is all about contrast. For a more conservative approach, try it out with solid colors or a monochrome ‘fit.
- Rock a faux fur jacket or coat. We all loved Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic faux fur coats on SATC, and coats like hers are amazingly warm and stylish. Just be careful about wearing one in precipitation — water can make faux fur clump together awkwardly.
- Experiment with animal print. I absolutely LOVE my leopard print faux fur jacket, and I’ve seen other great animal prints as well in stores this season. But to avoid looking like Cruella de Vil, seek out subtle, blended prints.
