This post will show you 8 amazing black owned jewelry brands you need to have on your radar.

Anyone who knows me well knows that I am definitely a Jewelry Person. From statement pieces to dainty ones, I love how the right jewelry can add so much character to a look.

However, recently, with all that has been going with the fight to give the Black community–including Black designers–the recognition and respect they deserve, I’ve come to an unfortunate realization.

That realization? I can’t think of a single piece in my jewelry collection that comes from a Black-owned jewelry brand.

So, in the spirit of becoming more aware about who makes the jewelry I wear, and helping others to do the same, I’ve done some research on some amazing Black-owned jewelry brands. In doing so, I’ve found some beautiful pieces that I’d recommend buying ASAP!

These baubles also happen to be relatively affordable to anyone who’s currently on a college budget.

Below, see eight of my favorite jewelry pieces from different Black-owned brands. I have also given some suggestions on how to incorporate the pieces into your look.

Hopefully, these gorgeous baubles will inspire you to do some research of your own, and to shop from a Black-owned business the next time you find yourself in need of a new piece!

1. Zoe Ring by Swanky Designs

Zoe Ring by Swanky Designs

Buy it at Swanky Designs

About the piece

First up, we have the beautiful Zoe ring by Swanky Designs.

According to the Swanky Designs website, each of these pieces of “Wearable Art” is one of a kind. They’re also made by hand just for you in your ring size! Not to mention, there’s space to put in a custom color request, if you so choose.

Personally, I love the gorgeous Lapis Lazuli variation featured above; according to the site, the stone represents “Celestial Energy & Nobility.” Sounds good to me!

How to wear it

For summer, I love the idea of wearing the Zoe Ring with a long, casual dress in a bright, contrasting color or bold print to make the stone really pop! Low, chunky heels and a chain-strap bag in a neutral shade would add a feminine touch to the look as well.

If you’re feeling bold and want to add a bit more shine to your look, some large gold hoops would make for the perfect option.

However, be sure to keep the hand and wrist area relatively bare to really show off the ring’s stunning design.

2. Warrior Bracelet by Chinero Nnamani

Warrior Bracelet by Chinero Nnamani

Buy it at Chinero Nnamani (Each bracelet sold separately)

About the piece

Next up, we have the amazing Warrior Bracelet by Chinero Nnamani.

This statement cuff is just one of the many pieces from fashion and accessory designer Chinero Nnamani’s namesake brand, whose mission it is to showcase the vast influence her African heritage has had on her designs.

Made from brass and gold plating, this cuff is sure to become an item that you find yourself reaching for over and over again!

How to wear it

Though not for the faint of heart, this stunning piece is supremely wearable, with everything from laid-back to dressy ensembles.

For casual days, I think that the Warrior Bracelet would look so cool worn with a loose-fitting white tee tucked into a pair of boyfriend jeans; brightly colored ballet flats, round sunglasses, and a (faux) leather tote.

As far as fancier occasions go, I love the idea of channelling your inner (vintage) Wonder Woman and buying a second one of these cuffs to wear on your other wrist. Paired with a striking column dress in a neutral shade, strappy heeled sandals, and an oversized clutch, you have yourself a look that’s guaranteed to turn heads!

3. Pearl Bar Necklace by Yam

Pearl Bar Necklace by Yam

Buy it at Yam

About the piece

If you’re more of a jewelry minimalist, don’t worry–I haven’t forgotten about you! In fact, I picked out the subtle, yet unique, Pearl Bar Necklace by Yam with all of you in mind!

This modern pearl-detailed piece also features chic gold-filled and black glass beads, which lend a slight edge to its otherwise pretty and dainty vibe.

In addition to being a chic piece to add to your jewelry collection, this necklace–like all of Yam’s jewelry–is handmade in-house. It’s also made using upcycled materials and sustainable practices. So, you can feel good about treating yourself to this slightly more expensive bauble!

How to wear it

Since the Pearl Bar Necklace is on the simpler side, don’t be afraid to wear it with your favorite earrings, bracelets, rings, etc. However, I’d personally refrain from wearing it with other necklaces, as I’d want its unique design to stand out.

In keeping with the necklace’s edgy-meets-feminine vibe, I’d style it with a black or white eyelet dress, along with a pair of chunky-soled sandals, a simple bucket bag, and perhaps a simple hair clip or two.

4. Carmen Earrings by Jam + Rico

About the piece

Now, let’s move on to earrings–namely, the Carmen Earrings by Jam + Rico.

This chic pair–which, according to the Jam + Rico website, is inspired by Cuba–features beautiful Cowrie shell posts. The earrings are made from 14 karat gold-plated brass, and have silk tassel details, which you can request in red, blue, or green (pictured above).

At once delicate and bold, these beautiful earrings surely are unlike most jewelry you’ve seen before! Therefore, you’re bound to reach for them whenever you feel like you want to add an extra-special touch to your look!

How to wear it

I think that the Carmen Earrings would look super-cute and summer-y with a beachy, printed maxi dress, a straw bag, flat sandals, and perhaps even a solid-colored headband.

As with some of the other bolder pieces featured in this article, you don’t want to overcrowd the eye. So, skip the necklaces and instead go for an armful of bracelets or bangles; delicate or bold, it’s up to you!

5. Zora Ring by EDAS

Zora Ring by EDAS

Buy it at EDAS

About the piece

If you’re a fan of jewelry that is at once simple, wearable, and unique, you’re sure to fall in love with the Zora Ring by EDAS.

As with all of EDAS’s designs, this standout bauble is hand-made and one-of-a-kind. Also like the brand’s other designs on the site, it is made using EDAS’ more sustainable Pre-Order Model, which helps to create less waste.

As for the design of the piece, the bead that hangs from the brass ring itself is made from Myanmar Rosewood, so it’s sure to bring a special touch to your jewelry collection. What’s more, thanks to the ring’s practically neutral brass and burgundy colors, you can wear it with just about anything.

How to wear it

This ring’s versatile style brings to mind a simple, classic look, which is exactly the aesthetic I’d go for if I were styling it myself.

For a chic and elegant ensemble you’ll go for Summer after Summer, pair the Zora Ring with a crisp shirtdress, lace-up sandals, a croc-print mini bag, and round sunglasses. If you want to add some other jewelry, I’d recommend timeless pieces such as medium-sized gold hoops, a delicate necklace, a dainty bracelet, and a menswear-inspired watch.

6. Creamsickle Bangle by Lola Ade

Creamsickle Bangle by Lola Ade

Buy it at Lola Ade (Each bangle sold separately)

About the piece

Summer is the perfect time to try out warm, sunset-inspired shades. And, what better way to do that than with the Creamsickle Bangle by Lola Ade?

This glam, one-of-a-kind bauble, is locally hand-crafted from tinted resin. It also comes in four beautiful shades (as shown from top to bottom on the model above): rose, orange, and dark vanilla.

Moreover, according to designer Lola Ade herself, all of the brand’s pieces draw inspiration from her travels and the sights she’s seen over the course of her life. So, not only is this bangle a fun way to dress up your everyday look; it’s also infused with a unique individual perspective that you don’t often find in jewelry these days.

How to wear it

As far as I’m concerned, the Creamsickle Bangle is one of those items that you can never own too many of or wear too often!

Wear a single bangle with a crewneck t-shirt, a denim mini skirt, flat espadrilles, a lightweight scarf with a fun print, and a cute fanny pack for a stylish, everyday look.

Or, for the ultimate summer ensemble, I’d recommend stacking two or three of them and styling them with a billowy midi or maxi dress in a warm shade of pink, peach, or orange, gold metallic sandals, a pair of statement earrings, and a small clutch or shoulder bag.

7. Rainbow Initial Necklace by Melanie Marie

Black owned jewelry: Rainbow Initial Necklace by Melanie Marie

Buy it at Melanie Marie (Each necklace sold separately)

About the piece

For those of you who have a soft spot for classic pieces with a twist, the Rainbow Initial Necklace by Melanie Marie is sure to be right up your alley!

This feminine necklace offers several customizable options, enabling you to have a special piece that suits you perfectly! Not only can you choose the initial, you can also choose the size of the pendant itself (either a 1-inch Mini size or a 1.5-inch Regular Size). The chain is customizable as well, and comes in lengths (either 16, 18, 20, or 24 inches). (Note that the necklace’s price varies between $45.00 and $50.00, depending on the options you select.)

Thanks to its pretty color scheme and goes-with-everything design, this delicate bauble is sure to become one of your everyday go-to pieces year-round!

How to wear it

The Rainbow Initial Necklace has a certain preppy vibe to it. That’s why I’d recommend wearing it with a solid-colored button-up shirt, high-waisted chino shorts, a canvas tote, and white sneakers for a cute, casual, and summer-ready look.

In terms of other jewelry, stick to pieces with a similar, timelessly feminine vibe. For example: (faux) pearl or diamond earrings, a gold chain-link bracelet, and perhaps a few stacking rings for good measure.

8. Darya Earrings by BFYNE

Black owned jewelry: Darya Earrings by BFYNE

Buy them at BFYNE

About the piece

Last, but certainly not least, we have the Darya Earrings by BFYNE.

These statement-making gold earrings are undoubtedly luxe. They’re sure to be a great addition to both your everyday and special-occasion looks, thanks to their boldly intricate design.

These beautiful, face-framing earrings also prove that larger jewelry pieces don’t have distract from your features. In fact, as you can see in the image above, they can actually make them stand out even more!

How to wear it

As mentioned above, these amazing earrings can be worn either casually or in a more dressy way; it’s really up to you and the type of vibe you want to give off.

For an everyday look, I love the idea of letting the Darya Earrings be the focus. Do so by wearing a basic black t-shirt or tank top, a pair of trendy denim Bermuda shorts, flat sandals in a neutral color, and a structured black satchel bag. For this look, no other jewelry or accessories are necessary.

For fancier occasions, style the earrings with a knee-length or midi red dress, black heels, and a gold clutch. Again, no other jewelry or accessories are necessary, as you want the focus to be on the earrings’ fabulous design.
