Meghan’s style is sleek and natural, and she carefully chooses her pieces to reflect this. She chooses delicate patterns, muted colors, and conservative hemline lengths to reflect her royal duties, but her love of off-the-shoulder cuts and pointed toe heels shows her modern side.

Let’s take a look at where Meghan came from before we dive in to the style queen (or Duchess) she is today.

Early Life

Born in Los Angeles, California, Meghan pursued a career of acting and lifestyle blogging. Receiving a degree in theater and international relations in 2003, Meghan’s first TV guest-role was set a year earlier on General Hospital.

Meghan later went on to star in shows such CSI and 91210, but she is most known for her role in Suits.

However, acting isn’t always what it appears on screen, and Meghan has addressed the issues with racism in Hollywood.

Confronting Hollywood

Meghan has spoken out about the racism and inequality she’s faced in Hollywood as a biracial actress. Growing up with confusion about “belonging” and fitting in, Meghan says:

“I took an African-American studies class at Northwestern where we explored colorism; it was the first time I could put a name to feeling too light in the black community, too mixed in the white community. For castings, I was labeled ‘ethnically ambiguous.’ Was I Latina? Sephardic? ‘Exotic Caucasian’?”

With a unique complexion of freckles, Meghan claims that the colorism has gone as far as photoshopping her skin to be a different color.

“Add the freckles to the mix and it created quite the conundrum. To this day, my pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed and my freckles are airbrushed out of a photo shoot.”

A Royal Romance

Meghan met Prince Harry while filming Suits in Toronto, and kept much of their relationship a secret from the public eye. Quickly becoming popular with gossip outlets, the Kensington Palace had to issue a statement about the harassment Meghan was receiving.

After addressing the media several times, in late 2017, the couple announced they had secretly gotten engaged, and the most regal and beautiful engagement pictures were posted.

On May 19, 2018, the couple wed at St. George Chapel at Windsor Castle. Prince Harry and Meghan exchanged vows before 600 guests including (of course) the Queen, Oprah Winfrey, Serena Williams, and Sir Elton John…just to name a few.

About 100,000 people waited for the open-carriage procession through Windsor following the ceremony, and although Meghan followed the tradition of signing off of her social media accounts, the royal family issued a thank you for support, and a congratulations to the newly-married Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Wearing a stunningly classy pearly white gown with a boatneck and veil, Meghan’s wedding look was perfect. However, outside of an iconic royal ceremony, Meghan’s fashion is unrivaled.

With subtle tones and carefully selected pieces, the Duchess creates her own kingdom of style–let’s take a look at some of her swoon-worthy looks.

Sophisticated and Nautical

Products: Shorts- (J. Crew), Shoes- (6pm), Glasses- (ZeroUV), Sweater- (L.L Bean), Hat- (Banana Republic), Bag- (Nine West)

Get this look by finding a pair of shiny rose gold loafers, navy chino shorts, a red sweater, big shades, and a matching cream-colored crossbody and hat. Accessorize additionally with light accent jewelry, like the casual rings worn on Meghan’s fingers.

House Comfy

Products: Shoes- (Zappos), Pants- (Shein), Sweater-(H&M)

Want to look as nice as Meghan while making lunch? Athletic shoes are essential for easy movement around the house. These grey Nikes go with literally everything! Next, find a big fuzzy sweater, pair it with cozy and breathable pants, then enjoy a cup of tea.

Afternoon Preppy

Products: Top- (Shein), Shoes- (Marc Fisher), Glasses- (Lima), Pants- (Kohl’s)

Take this style and make it yours with a playfully patterned top (the bow on this one is classic) and a plain pair of cropped pants–white or black works magic for this look. The huge black sunglasses make it ideal for the afternoon, while the chic pop of bright yellow shoes make Meghan’s fashion taste stand out from the rest.

Royal and Regal

Products: Shoes- (Old Navy), Necklace- (Charming Charlie), Dress- (Venus), Clutch- (6pm)

You don’t have to marry a prince to pull off this look. Take your time styling and finding the perfect dress, as it is the most important part of your outfit. Stick to dark, regal colors such as burgundy, navy, olive, and the always classic black. Once you have your color and dress finalized, make sure your clutch and/or your shoe choice perfectly match it. Think like a queen!
