Closet filled with patterned pieces

This week, to encourage myself to break out of my style rut, I’m challenging myself to focus on different patterns in my outfits. I also tried out some pattern mixing this week, which is something I’ve always been afraid to attempt. I’m also challenging you to wear different patterns every day for a week (and try pattern mixing if you’re feeling brave!)

I really enjoyed this week’s challenge because there are so many different patterns and pieces to choose from. You can really find interesting pieces to match any style! Personally, I feel like I under-utilize all of the incredible patterned pieces out there, so I really paid attention to it this week. Below are some outfit ideas to inspire you in this printed challenge.

Monday

Products: Top – Charming Charlie, Jeans – American Eagle, Booties – Target, Scarf – The Loft

I started the week off with a little bit of pattern mixing! This classic striped top has the added detail of a peplum hem, which I love. I paired it with jeans and some brown ankle booties to stick with the casual-polished look. To finish it off, I added a floral scarf. The scarf is mostly navy, matching the color of the stripes, and adds some interest to the outfit without clashing with the top.

Tuesday

Products: Tunic – Impressions Boutique, Leggings – Forever 21, Necklace – Red Dress Boutique, Tote – Target, Boots – Target

This updated take on chevron is too cute and pairs really well with comfy leggings. I added black suede boots to flow with the leggings and a trendy beaded wrap necklace that brings out the gold color in the tunic. The metallic tote also has an adorable floral pattern and ties in with the necklace. I love the bright colors and crazy pattern in the tunic, especially when it can be paired with practical leggings for running around campus.

Wednesday

Products: Top – Target, Skirt – Forever 21, Earrings – Charming Charlie, Shoes – Forever 21

This feminine look is so easy and so elegant! The top features small polka dots, an updated take on such a classic pattern. I paired it with a blush pink pleated skirt. The skirt has a very romantic look that complements the top so well. To tie it all together, I added black cutout flats and some blush pink earrings. This outfit looks so polished; you’ll be ready to take on any meeting, presentation, or interview that comes your way.

Thursday

Products: Jacket – Target, Top – American Eagle, Jeans  – American Eagle, Flats – DSW, Necklace – Monday Dress

I based this outfit around these adorable leopard print flats. Wear them with cuffed jeans and a neutral t-shirt in a similar color to the shoes, and add a utility jacket in army green. The contrast between the casual jacket and jeans and the glam flats and necklace make this look really stand out. This is perfect for grabbing coffee with a friends or heading to the library to study.

Friday

Products: Dress – Monday Dress, Cardigan – American Eagle, Bag – Forever 21, Booties – Target, Necklace – Charming Charlie

This trendy tie-dye dress is perfect for a night out on the town with friends. I paired it with a long cardigan that has a lace-up detail on the back. I also added a trendy choker necklace in black to bring out the darker spots on the dress. Add some charcoal booties and a light gray purse and you’ll be ready for a fun Friday night!

 Saturday

Products: Dress – Impressions Boutique , Button Down – JCrew Factory, Flats – Target, Necklace – Target

This outfit is begging to be worn to brunch. I love this gorgeous floral print and it will work well into the spring. Add a thin striped button down in similar colors and knot it at the waist to create a gorgeous silhouette. The scalloped flats complement the feminine style and a statement necklace featuring the colors of the dress ties it all together.

Sunday

Products: Dress – Red Dress Boutique, Belt – Forever 21, Booties – Target, Necklace – Charming Charlie

For the last day of the challenge, I chose a fairly simple outfit. This gingham dress is so elegant. The brown accessories look chic against the dress’s black and white pattern and the dainty necklace echoes the its demure style. This is another easy look that leaves a lasting impression and works for almost anything you may have on your schedule.
