Best holiday party dresses 2018

Here at CF, we love the holiday season — from delicious holiday food to spending extra time with friends and family, there’s nothing quite like this magical time of year.

However, the one thing that we look forward to most is planning which dresses to wear for special holiday events, from formal get-togethers to cocktail parties.

But, as any fashionista knows, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all of the beautiful options out there, especially if you’re still in the process of figuring out what kind of impression you’d like to make this season.

Luckily, I’ve done all the hard work for you and have put together a list of the 16 most fashionable holiday dresses out there — all for under $200! — along with some tips on how to style them!

Want to see them? Just keep scrolling — and have fun shopping this season!

1. White Large Sequin Dress

I wanted to start off this list off with a bang, and this ultra-glam sequined dress from Zara is just the thing to do it with! Perfect for any formal holiday occasion, this gorgeous dress would look amazing paired with minimal black strappy heeled sandals and a red lip. Just be sure to keep the rest of your look more low-key to let the dress really shine!

2. Statement Hot Pink Dress

Red might be the “traditional” holiday color, but this season, don’t be afraid to mix things up in this amazing shocking pink number! I love the idea of styling it with metallic silver heels and accessories, or even with another bright color, such as red, green, or cobalt, if you really want to stand out! If you pick the latter option, be sure to stick with one accent color to ensure that you look cute rather than over-the-top.

3. Yellow Strappy Slip Dress

Speaking of unconventional holiday colors, I couldn’t resist this cute slip dress in Gen Z Yellow, which is perfect for anyone who’s looking to add some ’90s flair to their holiday ensemble. This dress is perfect for dressing up for holiday parties with slingback kitten heels, a sleek ponytail, and jeweled statement earrings, but can also be dressed down for day once the holidays are over with a slim-fitting black turtleneck layered underneath and knee-high riding boots.

4. Blue, Green, and White Floral Crochet Lace Mini Dress

If you love lace but don’t want to look too delicate, then this floral crochet lace mini dress is for you! This dress would look equally good with heels or flats (so your feet get a break!); moreover, if you don’t want to walk around bare-legged, it would look great with opaque black tights. Just throw on an oversized blazer over top, and you’re good to go!

5. Blush Pink Faux-Wrap Maxi Dress

For an elegant, feminine look, this faux-wrap maxi dress can’t be beat! Its beautiful, goes-with-almost-everything shade of blush pink means that it can be worn with a variety of different shades, but I personally like the idea of wearing it with other soft colors, such as beige or cream. If you choose to wear jewelry with it, go for rose gold for a luxe look; as for hair, loose waves or an easy braided up-do would be the perfect complement to the dress’ soft aesthetic.

6. Bright Purple One-Shoulder Dress with Asymmetrical Hem

For a fun, cocktail party look, you really can’t go wrong with this trendy, statement-making one-shoulder dress with an asymmetrical hem that’s practically begging to be danced in! Wear it with a black clutch and heeled sandals to let the dress’ color pop, or, better yet, wear it with a metallic sequined clutch and a daring pair of yellow sandals (like these) for an unforgettable holiday look!

7. Black Dress with Tie Neck

Perhaps your holiday style is more classic and subdued, but you want something with a bit of a twist; that’s where this sweet tie-neck little black dress comes in! Since it’s black, you can wear it with just about anything, but I think it would look amazing with glittery Mary Jane heels or flats, a small chain-strap cross-body bag, and a bold fuchsia lip!

8. Red Puff-Sleeve Dress with Appliqués

Looking for the perfect red dress for the holidays? Look no further than this cute appliquéd puff-sleeve style! Wear it with opaque black tights, block heels, (faux) diamond studs, and black winged liner and sparkly lipgloss for a look that is as fun as it is sophisticated!

9. Navy Blue and Black Bonded Lace Fit-and-Flare Dress

Fit-and-flare dresses are flattering on every body type, and I am totally in love with the unique black lace detailing on this navy blue number. This dress takes what is traditionally considered a fashion “don’t” (wearing black and navy together) and totally mixes things up for a look that is at once youthful and refined, with just a touch of rebelliousness. Personally, I’d wear this dress with a black clutch and heels and minimal to no jewelry to really let the lace stand out!

10. Beige Dress with White, Red, and Green Flowers

You might think that florals are best saved for Spring and Summer, but this flirty mini dress proves otherwise, as it is versatile enough to wear year-round. My favorite thing about this dress is that you can pull any of the colors of the floral print (i.e. green, red, or white) when accessorizing. However, I also think that it would look great with a killer pair of cobalt blue heels.

11. Long-Sleeved Smock-Waist Dress

This festive green mini dress is easily dressed up or down. Wear it with red lipstick and heels for a Christmas-y vibe, or, if you’d rather something a bit more subdued, pair it with nude heels or flats and a matching cross-body bag.

12. Rose Gold Sequin Sheath Midi Dress

This sequined, rose gold dress is definitely my favorite of the bunch, and it’s easy to see why, as it is truly show-stopping! It would look best with simpler accessories in black, along with minimal makeup. I also really like the idea of wearing it with an oversized blazer and a large clutch for a high-fashion take.

13. Red Sleeveless Fit-and-Flare Dress

For a classy and timeless holiday look, look no further than this red fit-and-flare dress! Pair it with a fuchsia lip for an unexpected contrast, and add a thick black ribbon from the craft store to further emphasize your waist, as well as some shiny gold jewelry. Or, for a cozy and cute look, go for pointed-toe flats, a neutral-colored cardigan, and style your hair in a half-ponytail.

14. Black Long-Sleeved Chiffon Midi Dress

If you’re looking for a little black dress that’s far from boring, then you’ll love this elegant chiffon midi number from Torrid! It would look great with a beaded clutch, kitten heels, and medium-to-large gold hoops. The dress’ three-quarter sleeves provide the perfect opportunity to show off a statement cuff bracelet or glittery cocktail ring (but not both, as that would be overkill!)! Either way, this dress is sure to impress everyone around you!

15. Burgundy Short-Sleeved Fit-and-Flare Dress

This burgundy lace dress is the perfect combination of daring and sweet; what’s more, its dark color is the perfect option if you don’t want to wear black, but aren’t up for wearing anything too bright, either. It would look so amazing with glittery, pointed-toe flats, a (faux) suede black clutch, and vampy dark lipstick; if you’re feeling edgy, you can even add a (faux) leather motorcycle jacket over top!

16. Pale Blue Strapless Flounce Dress

For a look that matches the icy winter weather, you’ll love this pale blue strapless flounced dress that’s sure to make you the belle of the ball (…or holiday party!). Pair it with a metallic silver clutch, heels, and jewelry and slicked back hair for a sleek, modern look that’s sure to turn heads this season!
