Summer is associated with so many fun things: sunshine, vacation, watermelon, baseball, ice cream, picnics, the list goes on! I wish I could spend every day of summer outside doing fun, classic activities, but unfortunately that’s challenging once you’re in college.
So, in the spirit of summer fun, I decided to create some classic summer outfit ideas.
I started by writing down a list of everything I love about summer. Next, I tried to decide what drew me to that particular thing/event/activity and how I could incorporate it into a look.
The best thing about this fashion challenge is how personal it is – we each have different ideas of what makes the perfect summer and that’s OK. See my summer outfit ideas below for inspiration!
Monday: Baseball Game Outfit
As soon as the weather starts to warm up, I get so excited to go to baseball games! Wondering what to wear to a baseball game? Here you go:
The laid-back, sporty feel of baseball is easy to incorporate into an outfit – start with a classic baseball tee with some distressed denim shorts, add sneakers, a trendy choker, and an embroidered baseball cap and you’re done!
Tuesday: Sunflower Scarf Outfit
There’s a huge field of sunflowers near where I live and lots of people go there during the summertime to spend an afternoon or have a photoshoot. So I had to do an outfit inspired by sunflowers.
I found this gorgeous top in “sunflower yellow” and paired it with a neck wrap/head band in a sunflower print. To finish the look, I added denim shorts, white slip-on sneakers, and a red initial tote.
Wednesday: Fourth of July Outfit
There’s nothing more quintessentially summer than the Fourth of July! We’ve already covered some cute July Fourth fashion picks, but here’s an outfit idea for July 4:
Here’s an idea for what to wear for a Fourth of July barbecue and watching the fireworks. I found these gorgeous patterned shorts and paired them with a navy tee. For accessories, I added brown sandals, a cute necklace set, and some red statement earrings.
Thursday: Summer Vacation Outfit
Since school’s out during the summer, it’s a great time to travel and go on vacation! My family doesn’t usually go anywhere during the summer, but I love to dream about flying off to Hawaii or Europe.
To channel some summer vacation fashion, I found this incredible Hawaiian print skirt and paired it with a white ruffle top. I added some classic flats and a nautical necklace. As the finishing touch, I found this map watch to really inspire the wanderlust.
Friday: Beach Outfit
Similar to the last outfit, traveling to the beach always comes to mind when I think of summer!
Wondering what to wear to the beach? Here’s a beach outfit idea. First, knot a sea creature tea over a blue and white striped dress. Next, add a straw purse, some blue platform sandals, and classic aviators.
Saturday: Gingham Top Outfit
Before my sister learned the name for gingham, she called it “the tablecloth pattern” and I still associate it with picnics to this day! Gingham is a classic summer pattern that never goes out of style.
For a gingham outfit, I paired this on-trend gingham cold-shoulder top with some white scalloped shorts. For shoes, I added classic sandals, some cute sunglasses, and a big bag for all your picnic essentials!
Sunday: Watermelon Dress Outfit
Maybe it’s because I’m from the south, but no summer is complete without eating lots of watermelon!
I found this precious watermelon-printed dress and paired it with bold red wedges for an adorable summer look. I added a necklace set and sunglasses for accessories, and a red cardigan in case it gets chilly after the sun sets.
