Youtube is a beauty addict’s dream. With just a few clicks, you can learn how to do any makeup look imaginable. My favorites, though, are the application technique videos, because they’re like a free lesson from a makeup artist in the comfort of your own home.
Even if you think you’re a beauty pro, there’s always more you can learn, and YouTube is the best free place to improve your skills. Below, I’ve shared my three favorite beauty how-to videos, sure to teach you a little something new.

1. Makeup Geek’s Mascara Tutorial
Mascara is one of the most basic makeup essentials, but applying it correctly is a true skill that requires practice to perfect.
Marlena from Makeup Geek (who also has an awesome makeup line) makes the process simple with her tips in this video. Even if you think you’re a mascara pro, you should watch this video to improve your skills. She explains things really well, and I think you’ll enjoy watching her as she demonstrates her favorite way to apply mascara.
2. Wayne Goss’ “Invisible Contour” Tutorial
Wayne Goss is one of my absolute favorite YouTube personalities. He is gorgeous, British, and talented – what more could we ask for? He has 2.2 million subscribers, so clearly I’m not the only one who loves this man!
This is the best contouring tutorial I’ve ever found – it shows you how to apply your contour so it looks natural and “invisible”. No streaks here! Wayne applies makeup onto his gorgeous model, Emma, and the end result is a subtly sculpted look that doesn’t look fake or over-the-top.
3. Kandee Johnson’s Perfect Eyebrows Tutorial
With more than 3.2 million subs on her YouTube channel, Kandee Johnson is one of the most well-known beauty gurus in the world. She is a master of disguise, putting out videos where she transforms herself into characters and celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Kylie Jenner.
In her video on shaping and taking care of your brows, she gives useful tips on how to get those brows #onfleek. As you can see above, she has some rockin’ brows, so this video is great if you want to channel Kandee’s bold brow look. I especially love her tip about using an eyebrow razor – it’s a game changer!
