As college girls, we’re always looking for tips and tricks that are affordable and time-saving. Between classes, extra curricular activities and our social lives, it’s hard to find the time to always primp and prep ourselves to look fabulous, and things can fall out of place from time to time, especially during a day that seems to last forever.
But with these quick and easy beauty secrets, you’re guaranteed to look beautiful and flawless all the time! Read on for all the info.
1) Bronzer and baby powder are a great way to disguise oily hair.
This trick is one of my favorites, since I am unfortunately one of those girls who loves to play with her hair, and therefore, add more oil to it than it would have on its own. If you’re a brunette, carry around a bronzer compact. If you’re a blonde, carry around a mini baby powder. They’ll temporarily hide your not-so-freshly-washed locks! (You might also want to try one of our favorite dry shampoos.)
2) Vaseline is an all-around life saver.
From using it as a chapstick, to applying a sparing amount to dry skin, to using it as an eye makeup remover, Vaseline can do it all. (Once my mom and I asked a middle-aged woman how her skin was so smooth and glowy, and she responded by saying she’s been putting Vaseline on it every night since she was 13! But make sure your skin can handle it if you dare to try! Vaseline is very thick, and can cause your skin to clog and pimples to form!)
3) Visine can help clear up your eyes… and your blemishes!
Red eyes after a long night studying? Visine’s always great to have on hand… And as a bonus, applying a small amount to blemishes will reduce redness almost instantly! Talk about double duty.
4) Flyaways can be tamed by most moisturizers!
If you have any stray flyaway hairs, take a small, dime-sized amount of moisturizer, rub between your hands, and run over those stray pieces of hair! The weight of the moisturizer will hold them down, while giving your hands a quick dose of moisture!
5) Nails stained from dark polishes? Stick your fingertips in lemon halves!
Sticking your nails in lemon halves for five minutes will help brighten nails instantly. This is a trick that is used on models, since they often have to continuously get their nails done, often with dark, staining polishes.
6) Forget buying cream eyeshadow… Make your own!
By using a wet brush instead of a dry one on powdered eye shadow, you instantly create a creamier, brighter shadow to apply to your lids. This trick is so simple, yet so effective!
7) Put your perfume or fragrance on your wrists when you’ll be meeting people and shaking hands.
By putting fragrance on your wrists as well as behind your ears, it ensures that the recipient of your handshake or the lucky person who’s kissing your cheek will smell your delicious scent!
8) Run a fabric-softener sheet along your hair to get rid of the smell of a night out.
Whether you smell like a frat party, a smoky room, or a bar, this trick will get you smelling less like a night out and more like you’re ready to face a new day!
9) Want to change your hairstyle, but not ready to cut it off?Try a side part!
This dramatic part will make you the envy of every girl, and requires nothing more than a comb and a little bit of hairspray! Celebrities like Megan Fox love this easy look! Also consider trying new accessories, such as clips, bobby pins, and headbands, as well as styling your hair into buns and ponytails! Your haircut should never leave you feeling stuck with just one look!
10) Water is a girl’s best friend!
No matter how many beauty tips and tricks you read in your lifetime, the most important is this: it’s important to drink as much water as possible each and every day. It keeps your skin looking healthy, will make you feel healthy and hydrated, and your skin and hair feeling supple! It truly is a girl’s best friend.

what is a vaseline? is it a shampo??
Baby shampoo to remove eye makeup reccomended by my eye doctor. Place a wash cloth diped in very warm water place it on your eyes for a minute, then put baby shampoo on a cotton ball and wipe off makeup. No more tears! No eye irritation. Works better than any makeup remover I’ve ever used and no burning eyes!
#10 is easily the best tip. I used to rarely drink water, but ever since I started 8 glasses a day, my skin has cleared up, my acne scars are now invisible, i feel hydrated and my skin is less oily. Also, I lost a few pounds without exercise. so rmbr, DRINK WATERRRR !
For those who use the baking soda paste….how long do you leave it on?? And the vaseline do you use it like overnight or as a moisturiser under makeup?? Thank you for any help!!
As a former cancer survivor and mom, I am always looking for natural remedies…I found The very best!…Plain coconut oil from any store…The better brands are of course even better but on a budget you can get a big bottle of it for $5.00…Use it to remove makeup, wash your face with it, put it on your whole body for silky soft skin, eat it for amazing health benefits and condition your hair with it…The list is endless…and an old trick I learned with having a daughter who wants to wear lip gloss….Dab a little Vaseline and Koolaid together and stir well and you will have healthy yummy lip gloss!…
Well what if your African American this does no justice for me in anyway what so every exept the Vaseline part that’s a wonderful tip:) just put more All-Race friendly tips in but otherwise GREAT JOB
These tips are wonderful.
Preparation H really does work for swelling/bags around the eyes. Great for bags (dab on the skin gently and leave overnight), OR if you’ve been crying and you don’t want your eyes to look puffy later. Dab a tiny amount on your eyelids and go to bed. In the morning, you look normal.
Also, I have very sensitive skin (rosacea, dry, acne prone) and the BEST mask I’ve EVER used is:
Regular milk! I blend normal, whole milk with nonfat powder milk until it’s a cream. Then I apply it with a foundation brush to my face/chest/legs. It dries in about 15 minutes and feels hard, like you can’t move your face. Then I rinse/shower with warm water, towel off and moisturize. My skin is soft, clean and shiny. Amazing.
p.s. You can find milk in a lot of expensive creams, but pure milk is the cheapest, most effective and by far most luxurious.
Does anyone know if lemon juice works to get teeth whiter??????????????
Thanks so much this tips and tricks so do help!!!
Luv u for life!!!!!
Thanks for all for sharing these beauty tips…….You know something it really works in my daily busy schedule…….mainly many dont know water is essential which makes us to feel healthy………I am worth it…..
Do you know how I fight the flyaways? with the pro naturals argan oil leave-in treatment! Check it out!
Thanks for sharing. Great advice =)
Liv, I heard that too but I have never tried it. Great tips! I too did not know about the lemons or visine tricks.
I heard somewhere that Preparation H gets rid of under eye puffiness…don’t know if it actually works though. Anyone know?
The visine and baby powder tricks are life savers!! I use those all the time.
Cold cream is a great night moistureizer too (in place of Vaseline).
Also, I keep a bottle of baby oil in my shower – rub it on after you’re done showering but still wet – the water helps in to absorb into the skin and the baby oil will leave your skin SO soft and smooth!
OMG… I love these tips! And yeah… these pictures too of course, love those sexy lips, I agree that water is a girl’s best friend.
I never apply eyeshadow without wetting the brush. Works like a charm. It really helps the eyeshadow stick to your eyelids and stay there all day.
Instead of wetting your eyeshadow brush with water, use moisturizer. Water can work, but can also take off the shadow or even become runny if you get it too wet.
Just put a dot of moisturizer on your hand, dip the brush, then put the shadow on.
To the above poster, I don’t know about putting Vaseline on your teeth… that would taste gross. I heard that sometimes cheerleaders put Vaseline on their teeth for competitions. It reminds them to smile because if they close their mouth, it tastes bad.
My mom’s remedy for chapped lips is to gently scrub with a toothbrush and put Vaseline on before taking a hot shower. I tried it and it works!
I like the Visine and lemon tips. Those are new to me. 🙂
One not mentioned is baking soda. Like vaseline Baking soda has a ton of uses. I use it as an exfoliator, teeth whitener, and it can also help zap pimples if you make it into a paste.
Running a fabric softener through your hair does get rid of static, but the chemicals in the fabric softener are harmful to your scalp and hair!!
I loved it! 🙂 Thanks!
I’m trying at least two of these tomorrow. Vaseline I’ve already got covered, though. It’s always in my purse, which is especially helpful in summer so my lips don’t sunburn.
Vaseline doesn’t clog pores. It is just a misconception. Anyway, I love these tips!
Good advice except for the last tip! of course it’s good to keep hydrated but you don’t need to drink “as much water as possible each and every day” Excessive water intake can lead to brain swelling and death so don’t over do it! 8 glasses *spread* over an average day is heaps!
Don’t forget olive oil also works great at getting make-up off and it has less chemicals which could potentially harm the skin.
Use conditioner as shaving cream for your legs and armpit.
I use that tip all the time in the shower when I’m in the hurry. Your legs will be as smooth and they will smell great!
Vaseline is my best my friend in the winter months. It’s great or dry, cracked lips all while giving that perfect gloss look. It’s also good for that smile. A small amount rubbed on your front teeth give a sparkling smile.
Also try it to elevate those dry cracked feet. I’m not one that has to get a pedi regularly, I just put on some vaseline and bam!!!
ahhh my hair is an awful combination of thin, greasy at the roots, and dry at the ends…hair powder/dry shampoo has really saved me!! it keeps it looking clean and gives it volume, and keeps my from having to wash/flat iron my hair every day! I don’t know how I lived the first 20 years of my life without it hahaha!
I never knew that about the lemons. I have this blue polish that always stain my nails, and I was just gonna give up on it now I’ll just give this a try.
I recommend brushing your hair before you wash it so it doesn’t tangle as much.
#2. amen, amen! since the season change, my knuckles and crevices between my fingers have been so painfully dry, almost to the point of cracking! not so much anymore. ive been applying vaseline to my dry spots at night, and the next morning my hands are so incredibly soft and smooth!! =]
And also, i should mention to the other above poster, that putting vaseline to prevent sunburn it a horrible thing to do to your lips. When you do this, it can intensify the suns rays, causeing premature aging of the lips, sunburn, and possibly skin cancer.
I agree with the above poster.
I had these scars that were 2 dots on each cheek, from popping pimples a couple years ago. I tried Mederma (which did nothing on my skin) and Bio-Oil (Which made my skin too oily) but then my grandmother told me too put on baking soda applied with a q-tip, because it is very drying, and it neednt be applied all over your face. I was hesitant to use this tip however; my skin is extremly irritated just by touching, and i am also a longtime sufferer of Eczema. But, when i brought this up to her, she again told be to do it. But this time, after washing it off your face, put a little bit of vaseline in a small bowl, mixed with a little visine. It worked! My skin felt and looked amazing, and now i gave up on Proactic, Neutrgena, and am solely using this combination!
Add 3-4 drops of Pine Turpentine oil and 3-4 drops of snake oil into your daily shampoo, it will shine your hair. And for a bright, healty skin, put a some apple vinegar on cotton, and aply it to your face twice a week and put a spoonfol of apple vinegar in a glass of water and drink it. You’ll see the difference in a very short time. This info is from a Turkish doctor, ?brahim Saraço?lu
Visine is a great tip for me, I also use visine to thicken my eyebrow, but you need assistance to do this from your coiffeur, she can shave your eyebrows sides as much as you want it to get thick and you apply visine at nights for six months every week, hocus pocus, you have thick eyebrows. But be careful of this, it needs professionals;)
