Celebrity style: Bar Refaeli, Nicole Richie, and Liv Tyler

Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Bar Refaeli, Nicole Richie, and Liv Tyler. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.

Look 1: Bar Refaeli’s Casual Summer Layers

If you’re spending time in an area that’s not sweltering hot right now, look to supermodel Bar Refaeli’s expert layering for some outfit inspiration.

Bar rocked a neutral palette of colors for a chic, relaxed summer look this past week – she wore a simple denim jacket, olive green skinny pants, and a long-sleeved gray shirt, accessorizing with silver Ray-Ban aviators, a Louis Vuitton scarf, and a pink Balenciaga bag, along with neutral colored flats and a brown belt.

To get Bar’s look, start with some neutral skinny pants for a perfect blank canvas. On top, you can wear a basic long-sleeved shirt in heather gray like Bar did, but any other basic top, like a white tank, would work just as well. A denim jacket is a great way to ward off chills during the summer, and the fabric adds a contrasting pop of texture and color to the look. Fun accessories like a light tasseled scarf and silver-lensed aviators, as well as a brown belt, neutral colored flats, and a neutral handbag complete the look.

Look 2: Nicole Richie’s Denim & Floral Combo

Trendsetter Nicole Richie was spotted out in a floral dress with a cutoff denim vest, black wedge sandals, a black cross-body bag with gold detailing, and some of her signature oversized, funky-shaped sunglasses.

Nicole’s look is a fashion-forward way of mixing grunge with girly: The cutoff vest represents a fun, unexpected way to make the floral sundress look a bit less innocent – it functions in essentially the same way as the black accessories and shoes.

Floral dresses are quite popular in stores lately, so finding a flattering one is super easy. A denim vest makes the dress tougher; if you’re feeling up for a DIY project and have a longer vest like the one I’ve featured here (or an old denim jacket) you can cut the vest yourself to make it more cropped, and add studs to the front to make it mirror Nicole’s. Black wedge sandals and black sunglasses in a unique shape complement the tougher aspects of the look, as does the stylish yet functional cross-body bag with gold detailing.

Look 3: Liv Tyler’s Urban Nautical Look

Actress Liv Tyler pulled together an outfit that represents a unique twist on the typical nautical look, and brazenly broke a few “fashion rules” while doing so, proving that breaking the rules in fashion can pay off!

Liv mixed blue sailor shorts with a black-and-white striped t-shirt — some still say mixing black and blue is a no-no, but as you can see here, the colors actually look fashion-forward together. She also mixed brown into the color palette with the help of some strappy leather sandals. Finally, she accessorized with some Wayfarer sunglasses and a black shoulder bag for a perfect summer look.

A pair of navy blue sailor shorts may seem like a piece you can only wear one way, but trendy shorts like these are actually surprisingly versatile, and, because they have such a distinct design, can make even a basic white tank top look trendy. Here, I paired the shorts with a black-and-white striped t-shirt like Liv’s. To complete the look, choose accessories that are brown-hued – these strappy brown sandals have gold pyramid studs which complement the gold buttons and zippers on the sailor shorts, as well as the buckles on the handbag.
