The Ilvermorny school history story is up on Pottermore.

I repeat: THE ILVERMORNY SCHOOL HISTORY STORY IS UP ON POTTERMORE!! (Read it here if you haven’t already.)

Of course, I’m sure you already know that by now, because it’s all anyone has been talking about lately. Or maybe that’s just my circle of nerd friends. Oh well.

If you didn’t know, Ilvermorny is Hogwarts’ American counterpart and has a rich and fascinating history involving escapes from crazy pureblood family members, terrifying creatures that live in the forest, and a super-awesome new system of sorting. The entire story is genius, as is to be expected, and I strongly encourage you to go check it out if you haven’t already.

Ilvermorny Fashion on CF

In the weeks ahead, I’ll be covering fashion inspired by each of the Ilvermorny houses (Wampus, Thunderbird, Pukwudgie, and Horned Serpent), but first, let’s get inspired by the Ilvermorny school colors

Ilvermorny students, according to J.K. Rowling herself, wear robes of blue and cranberry– blue because it was founder Isolt Sayre’s favorite and also because she had wanted to be in Ravenclaw house at Hogwarts as a child, and cranberry because of co-founder James Steward’s love for cranberry pie. (No, I did not make that up.)

This all feels suspiciously like a way to incorporate shades of red, white, and blue into the American school’s color scheme, but I’ll take it.

There’s no information about what the rest of the Ilvermorny school uniform looks like, but if it’s anything like the Hogwarts uniforms, we can expect that polished private-school aesthetic we all love so dearly. Since I know not everyone likes dressing like a British private school student, however, here are some more casual ways to incorporate the Ilvermorny school colors into your everyday look!

Look 1: Polished and Preppy

Products: Earrings, Bag, Shirt, Skirt, Socks, Shoes

Just kidding. I lied. The first one is totally private school-looking because I love this aesthetic and I have no self control. YAY.

If you want to be private school-aestheticy like me, try pairing a white lace collared blouse featuring this delightful black bow with a navy blue skirt. These socks are adorable and represent both of the Ilvermorny colors, and pair beautifully with cranberry flats with just the slightest bit of a heel. Instead of toting around an enormous spellbook, try toting your magical possessions in this gorgeous ancient-looking book purse. Finally, pay tribute to the gold Gordian knot that’s also featured in the school uniform with some delicate gold knot earrings

Look 2: Sweet and Sophisticated

Products: Glasses, Necklace, Dress, Tights, Shoes

For this look, feature the color cranberry with this gorgeous dress, then use blue as an accent color with navy tights and navy and brown Oxfords. Accessorize with a faux pearl necklace for an elegant touch and some tortoiseshell glasses. This outfit would be so cute for an upscale dinner or night out to the theater!

Look 3: Casual yet Classy

Products: Blouse, Headband, Jeans, Rings, Shoes

For a more casual approach to the Ilvermorny school colors, pair dark wash jeans with a cream-colored blouse. I love this one in particular because it incorporates the cranberry color as well in the form of a rosette at the collar. Allude to that gold Gordian knot again with a delicate gold headband and a stack of gold knotted rings. Finally, incorporate a bit more blue with some navy shoes

What do you think?
