Typically, "going out clothes" in college means a short skirt. Stop by any college party, and you'll likely see mini skirts and dresses of every kind.
The midi skirt, however, is here to challenge the status quo and push fashion boundaries.
It’s longer and more conservative than the average going out skirt, yes. However, if styled well, a midi skirt can be fit for any occasion. Like getting you from class to a night out.
How to Style a Midi Skirt for Class:
Midi skirts are great for giving an outfit a soft, feminine feel. By adding a ballet flat, we can play up that feminine element. These flats from Macy’s are a great way to include the ballerina lace-up flats trend in your look.
Pairing the skirt with a basic white shirt allows for the skirt to be our focal point. If this look is too black and white for your taste, add on a fun pair of sunglasses to brighten up the look. These red sunglasses from Nordstrom Rack are both bright and bold, perfect for days on campus.
How to Style a Midi Skirt for a Night Out:
For a nighttime look, we’re going to pair our midi skirt with a metallic crop top. Nothing says a night out quite like a good crop top. This metallic crop top from Forever 21 is a part of their latest collection, and is totally on-trend.
Finish off the look by adding some bling: Our shoes and bag are stylishly studded! Don’t forget to put on a pair of earrings. These ones, from Sak’s are a bit more daring than those in our daytime look, but isn't that the point?
