The time of year we’ve all been waiting for has arrived. Starbucks has Pumpkin Spice in stock, and the temperature has dropped enough for you to put on your beloved flannel shirt

Flannel shirts are the most trusty of our lazy day college staples. They’re typically cozy, comfy, and ultra-casual. However it is possible to take this normally laid-back piece and dress it up a bit, even turning it into a glam outfit for your night out.

Ready to see some flannel shirt outfits? Let’s go!

How to Style a Flannel Shirt for Class:

Flannel shirt outfit for class: Black and white flannel shirt, black blazer, black ankle booties, red statement necklace, black backpack, dark wash jeans

Products: Flannel – Hollister, Jeans – Madewell, Backpack – TJ Maxx, Shoes – Sole Society, Blazer – Macy’s, Necklace – Kohl’s

Typically when us college girls choose to wear a flannel shirt, we style it in a rush, tossing it on with leggings or jeggings and calling it good. Yawn.

Don’t relegate your flannel to lazy-day-only status: There are so many ways to style it! Here, we’re going to pair our flannel with a dark wash jean — we still want to be comfortable as we make our way to class.

The booties from Sole Society are super cute and comfy for walking to class. As a bonus, they’re so versatile for all your fall outfits!

Now here’s the fun part. Adding on this blazer from Macy’s is going to give this look a completely different vibe, bringing structure and a touch of professionalism to the casual top. Add on your favorite statement necklace to finish off the look.

How to Style a Flannel Shirt for a Night Out:

Flannel shirt outfit for night: Black and white flannel shirt, asymmetrical leather skirt, suede ankle booties, choker, crossbody bag

Products: Flannel – Hollister, Skirt – Express, Shoes – Sole Society, Choker – Express, Crossbody – Madewell, Lipstick – Saks Fifth Avenue

First things first, ditch the blazer. Since we’re finally out of classes for the day; there’s no need to bring that air of professionalism into a night out.

Instead, we are going to add on a cute leather mini skirt to bring this flannel shirt outfit into the night. (How cute is the asymmetrical zipper on this one?) Be sure to finish off this look with a striking pair of heeled booties, to make a fabulous entrance. Also, you can never go wrong with a bold lip and trendy choker. Nighttime perfection!
