Ask CF Question

Hi CF,

I recently got engaged (YAY!) and am looking for cheapish, simple white sundresses to wear to bridal shower this summer! Bonus points if they can double as a potential courthouse wedding dress!!

Rachel

Our Response

Dear Rachel,

First off, congratulations on your engagement!  I wish you all the best in your future together with your soon-to-be spouse!

As for what to wear, while there are plenty of simple white sundresses on the market, you can’t pick just anything to wear to your bridal shower/wedding! You need something special that, at the same time, won’t make you wonder, What was I thinking?! a few years down the road.

And, while this may seem daunting, particularly when you’re on a budget, it is definitely doable! Just stick to classic silhouettes that you like, and that don’t stray too far from what you’d normally wear, and you’ll find that shopping for your special day(s) is easier than you might think!

So, keep scrolling for my suggestions on cute, relatively inexpensive (i.e., under $150) white dresses for bridal showers and how to style them.

Bridal Shower Outfit 1

Products: Dress – H&M, Earrings – Bloomingdale’s, Cuff Bracelet Set – Saks Fifth Avenue, Liquid Lipstick – Barneys New York, Clutch – Bloomingdale’s, Heels – Zappos

For the first look, I chose a gorgeous eyelet dress with feminine tie-up straps that can be dressed up or down, depending on your preference.

I made it a little fancier (it is your bridal shower, after all!) by adding some punchy pops of color in the form of these cheery flower earrings and bright orangey-red liquid lipstick.

As for the rest of the look, I decided to tone things down a bit more with a lovely set of cuff bracelets, a crackled rose gold clutch, and a pretty pair of pale blue pumps, which can act as your “something blue” should you choose to wear this ensemble to your wedding as well.

(Note: These shoes are a bit pricey; however, I decided to include them since they can not only be worn for your bridal shower and wedding, but also afterwards with any number of outfits.)

Bridal Shower Outfit 2

Products: Dress – J.Crew, Earrings – J.Crew, Choker – Shopbop, Bracelet – NET-A-PORTER, Clutch – Nordstrom Rack, Heels – Nordstrom

This look is the most formal of them all (It’s also my favorite!), as the dress it features is more of a special-occasion dress than a sundress. However, I thought that I would include it anyway, as its cotton-eyelet fabric lends it a more casual air, making it what I like to think of as a sundress/sheath dress hybrid.

In keeping with the dress’ classic and sophisticated look, I chose to accessorize with a fun-yet-elegant pair of statement stud earrings, a choker that is at once trendy and refined, and a very delicate twisted chain bracelet.

To add some more sparkle, I chose this amazing pale pink beaded clutch; lastly, to round out the look, I decided on a simple pair of beige heels.

Bridal Shower Outfit 3

Products: Dress – Abercrombie & Fitch, Earrings – Anthropologie, Bracelet – Anthropologie, Necklace – J.Crew, Clutch – South Moon Under, Heeled Sandals – Belk

For the boho bride, a simple, long dress is the perfect backdrop for standout accessories.

For this look, I chose jewelry that is quirky yet wearable, such as these gorgeous moonstone studs, cute charm bracelet, and fun disc necklace.

In terms of a clutch, I continued with the boho theme and chose one with a neutral color to let its chic embroidery and mirror embellishments stand out. Then I finished the look with these special and unique raffia heeled sandals.

Bridal Shower Outfit 4

Products: Dress – H&M, Earrings – Shopbop, Cuff – Anthropologie, Bag – H&M, Heeled Sandals – H&M

For the final look, I put together something a little more casual using a dress that can certainly be worn after your bridal shower/wedding, should you choose to do so.

This ruffled eyelet frock is the perfect balance between classy and fun, while the elegant gray bag and pearl cuff add some sophistication to the look.

Trendy and eye-catching ombré drop earrings draw attention to your face, and pale pink heeled sandals with an adorable bow detail add an extra dose of femininity to the ensemble.

And there you have it–four bridal shower/wedding-friendly looks that will not only look great, but are also budget-friendly!  Have a wonderful time at your bridal shower and wedding (you deserve it!), and I’m sure you’ll look beautiful, regardless of which look you go for. Thank you for your question!
