London is always packed with incredibly stylish university students, so I had my camera in tow when I headed into the city for the day, ready for some outfit inspiration! Sophie’s cute and casual summertime ensemble did not disappoint.

Sophie wears a mismatched print short sleeve v-neck blue, white, and pink dress with a ruffle hemline and simple flat sandals.

Sophie 101

Name: Sophie

Hometown: Surrey

School: Imperial College London

Year: Second Year

Major: Biochemistry

Let’s Talk Fashion

Who or what inspires your style? “I am definitely a summer baby, and so most of my clothes are colorful and simple. I like to go shopping without a plan so I can just try on whatever catches my eye.”

Where do you like to shop? “The majority of my clothes are from Zara, but I also shop [at] H&M and Forever 21.”

How would you describe your sense of style? “I like to keep my outfits relatively simple and embellish them with jewelry and other accessories.”

What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. If you think you look good, others will think the same. If your wardrobe needs refreshing, think about doing a clothes swap with some friends before buying new clothes. You never know what you might find in the depths of their wardrobes!”

What are your favorite trends right now? “Bright colors and floral prints will always be my favorite. [When I wear them, I can pretend] it’s always summer.”

Do you have any favorite fashion designers? If so, who? “Valentino is one of my favorite fashion designers. I love the simple, floral designs.”

What do you do for fun – do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “If I were one of the four elements I would be water, as I love anything to do with water and the sea… including beaches, of course! I am also a keen swimmer and rower. I enjoy sketching houses and take a lot of inspiration from the buildings in London, where I live, and also enjoy taking pictures.”

If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “My mum’s, back when she was my age. I’ve seen pictures of her outfits and wish she had kept some of her clothes so that I could steal them now. Fashion always comes back around, just like floral print ’90s dresses, such as the one I’m wearing.”

Elements of Sophie’s Outfit

1. Mixed Print Dress + Simple Purse

Sophie wears a mismatched floral print blue, red, and cream dress with a small pink purse.

My favorite element of Sophie’s outfit is this beautiful dress from Zara. The neckline, cut, and length are all flattering, and an unexpected mix of floral prints complement each other nicely. She paired her dress with a simple blush-orange purse with gold details.

2. Sunglasses

Sophie tops off her look with large, round tortiseshell sunglasses.

Sophie’s large-framed, round sunglasses add to her refined, sophisticated look. These shades are a light tortoiseshell, which pairs flawlessly with her beautiful skintone and hair.

What do you think of Sophie’s style?

Would you wear her floral dress? If you could raid your mom’s closet from when she was your age, would you? Comment below and share your thoughts with us!
