Outfits Under $100: Wear 3 Fall Trends for Less
Step outside and you’ll discover the air is a little crisper, leaves are starting to darken into rustic colors, and the smell of autumn wafts through campus. It’s officially fall. You know what that means: now’s the time to start updating your wardrobe.
The latest trends for fall 2010 range from ’50s chic to elegant velvet, but perhaps the hottest trends are all about the balance between sweet and sassy: mixing ladylike lace with tough leather, infusing infantry inspiration, and daring to wear bold animal print. Here’s how you can wear these three toughened-up-good-girl trends without breaking the bank:
Outfit #1: Lace and Leather

Product Information: Skirt, Top, Cami, Cross-Body Bag, Chain Necklace, Heels
Lace is big for fall, and when paired with leather (or faux leather, for the budget or eco-conscious), the ladylike classic makes a big statement.
Above, lace helps tone down leather’s severity, which makes for a hot evening ensemble that doesn’t scream “Jersey Shore extra.” Tuck this loose-fitting sheer top into the faux leather mini, wear a basic cami or bandeau underneath, and add neutral accessories for a sexy yet sweet look.
Outfit #2: Leopard Print

Product Information: Bag, Top, Jeans, Bangles, Necklace, Booties
Many girls are scared of leopard print — if that’s you, fear not! When worn the right way, leopard will add sizzle to your outfit, without making you look tacky or cheap.
The key to pulling off leopard on a budget is keeping the dose of animal print small. A leopard print clutch, pair of shoes, or scarf will incorporate a bit of the jungle into your closet, without giving off a tasteless vibe. If you’re brave enough to wear a leopard coat or shirt, hold back unless you’re willing to splurge on a piece that’s very well-made and well-designed – cheap leopard pieces usually look, well, cheap.
Outfit #3: Military-Inspired

Product Information: Shirtdress, Bag, Tights, Boots
Military-inspired fashion is everywhere this season: sailor stripes, nautical buttons, army green, combat-ready buckles, utilitarian studs and surplus-style threads are all over the fall racks. To work the soldier trend while still looking girly, pair this army shirtdress with soft tights and tough, tall boots. Finish the look off with a coordinating bag that resembles a knapsack, like this versatile fold-over, cross-body tote.
What do you think?

I’m not sure if I have to guts to do lace and leather. I do like the lace trends that are going on right now. I am warming up to animal print, but its still going to take me sometime to try it.

Love all three outfits! I can’t even pick a favorite; the styling on all of them are great! And I love how all the outfits are under $100 – makes it possible to own all 3! Great post!

Military trend is my favorite style right now. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect jacket forever. Lace & Leather is another fave, but I think I’ve grown out of the animal print phase.

lace and leather i might try! but leopard print just screams tacky to me! i have seen a couple of girls wearing leopard tops around campus and i just don’t think it’s a good idea to go to class dressed like that. the only way to try it is with accessories. or when the print is very tiny like blair’s dress… but i still don’t like the trend

Normally I don’t like leopard print, but seeing it in such an adorable pair of shoes gives me hope! Lol now I feel like I can wear a little bit of the print without looking trashy (or like a cat.) All the outfits in this post are great, but I especially want those shoes so bad lol!
