Deep lipstick is pretty much as ubiquitous in autumn as bronzer is in summer. But hey, there must be a reason it’s so popular, right? Personally, I love berry lipstick because I am lazy and I like things that make me look like a much more put-together human than I actually am. And if I can achieve that look in less than five minutes, even better!
My go-to look is as simple as it gets: a groomed brow, concealer, mascara, and a berry lip stain. (And, of course, moisturizer and sunblock!) Here’s what I use:
Table of Contents
Brow products
Left to Right:
Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara -$8
Sephora Collection Retractable Brow Pencil -$12
I alternate between these three products, depending on how many times I hit the snooze button. When I’m in a hurry, I swipe on the Maybelline brow mascara for a subtle but groomed look. If you have very thin brows, though, this product might not be for you, since the wand tip is quite large.
I also really like the Sephora brow pencil because it has a super thin tip for precise application. The Soft Charcoal color is great for my black hair/brows because it’s not as severe looking as black and doesn’t look too red like some brown pencils do.
When I have a little more time to get ready, I like to use the Anastasia DipBrow pomade in Ebony. This gives me the most dramatic (but still believably natural) eyebrows.
Concealer
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – $7
NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer -$12-$29
Lately I’ve been trying to focus on perfecting my skincare routine and as a happy result, I’ve been using less foundation. I still do get blemishes here and there, though, so I’ve been testing out different concealers. My favorite is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (in Custard); it’s not too runny or too dry, it blends well, and it stays put all day! Unfortunately, it’s pretty pricey, and I recently ran out of the $12 travel size one I bought.
To tide me over until I get a refill (looking at you, VIB sale!!), I tried out the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Sand, which is supposed to be a dupe for the NARS one. I find the consistency a little too fluid (which makes it harder to only conceal a small spot) and it does crease a little, but for the price, I’m pretty happy with it! It also works well as an undereye concealer.
Lips
Revlon Balm Stain in Crush -$6
This little baby is my new favorite lip product! I have a couple of the other Revlon Balm Stains (Honey is a perfect “my lips but better” shade) but I just recently snagged this hue on a Target run. It’s a saturated wine color that starts out hydrating and slightly glossy and fades evenly throughout the day, leaving behind a natural-looking cranberry stain.
According to a classmate who complimented me on this lip color, it’s a good dupe for Glossier’s Generation G in Jam. And it’s only a third of the price!
