Do you wake up in the morning and walk to your closet, stand there and think “I have nothing to wear”? If the answer is yes, you aren’t alone. We’ve all been there.
It sure is hard to figure out what to wear sometimes. Come summertime, it can be extra difficult to get dressed, if you don’t want to wear the same old pair of shorts and tee shirt every single day.
Today I’m here to help: I have put together 11 go-to summer outfits for when you feel like you have nothing to wear. They’re quick to throw on, stylish, and wearable. I also made sure to include versatile items that you might already own, and that you can wear in so many different ways. Let’s get started.
Outfit 1: Chambray Shirtdress and Neutrals
A shirtdress, especially a chambray one, is a great piece to have in your closet because it’s classic and can be styled in so many different ways.
Neutrals are also helpful to have on hand when you can’t decide what to wear — they go with everything, so you can’t go wrong. In this case, a brown crossbody bag and a brown belt are great choices; they look classic and classy with the chambray shirtdress.
Adding prints and color is an easy way to accessorize a neutral and classic outfit. Shoes and scarves are great choices for adding interest: Printed TOMS tie in with the color of the dress, while a pink scarf with pom poms adds hints of femininity and color.
Outfit 2: Leather Jacket and T-Shirt Dress
Here’s a cool-girl outfit you can rock when you don’t know what to wear and it doesn’t take any effort at all. This includes items that are all versatile: a leather jacket, a t-shirt dress, white sneakers, and round sunglasses. (Since leather can be a hot fabric, this is a great outfit choice for late afternoon and evening.)
A black leather jacket and a red dress look great together. The floral embroidery on the jacket makes it trendy. White Adidas sneakers are great for model-off-duty vibes, while round sunglasses are so on-trend and protect your eyes from the sun.
Outfit 3: Denim Jacket and Sundress
A sundress + denim jacket combo is super chic and great for when you have nothing to wear. You probably have both of these items in your closet already, so you can’t go wrong rocking them together.
Add light pink booties and you’ve got a chic, easy outfit to wear all summer and into the fall. An aqua necklace adds some bright color and pulls the outfit together.
Outfit 4: White Shirt and Denim Shorts
This outfit includes some of the most classic summer items around, such as denim shorts, gladiator sandals, and aviator sunglasses.
The white shirt may look like your average white button-down at first, but it’s actually a popover shirt, which takes even less effort than a button-down to put on. (So it’s perfect for lazy days.) Pairing it with shorts and gladiator sandals makes for a great summer outfit to wear literally anywhere.
Accessorize with aviator sunglasses and a gold bangle and you’re good to go.
Outfit 5: Maxi Dress
When you think you have nothing to wear, what’s better than tossing on a maxi dress? Maxi dresses are stylish, comfortable, and versatile and you don’t have to add much else. Wear a floral one with espadrille sandals and you’ve got a classic summer combo.
If you want to add some extras, a denim vest looks great with sleeveless dresses and is a great contrast to the femininity of the dress. A sunhat with a black ribbon and trendy cat-eye sunglasses keep you protected from the sun in the most stylish way possible.
Circle bags are so on-trend for 2018, as are pastels, so a pastel circle purse finishes off the trendy-bohemian look.
Outfit 6: LBD & Bright Accessories
An black t-shirt dress is very versatile and we’re sure you probably have something like this one in your closet already. (If you don’t, get one immediately!) Black looks chic with silver so why not add a simple silver bar necklace?
Now let’s add some color to the look. Birkenstocks are still considered stylish, and we’re loving the pink ones above. You can also add another pop of color with a red crossbody bag. Now that’s a simple outfit made a lot more interesting.
Outfit 7: LBD and Button-Down
As everyone knows, a little black dress is THE go-to piece for when you have nothing to wear. You can dress it up or you can dress it down. You can also layer a button front shirt over it, making it look like a skirt… which is what we did here.
Brown ballet flats are versatile and can be worn with anything, but they look especially chic with the black dress and button-front shirt. A minimalist watch adds some sophistication. You’re good to go!
Outfit 8: Graphic Tee and Boyfriend Jeans
A t-shirt and jeans combo is a perfect summer outfit formula for when you have nothing to wear. A graphic tee and boyfriend jeans combo is modern and chic, and you can make it your own depending on the tee you choose, the wash of the jeans (we did dark here but light is also super popular), and the accessories you add.
A crochet vest and a tassel wrap bracelet add a boho vibe to the outfit. Checkered Vans in a pastel color add simplicity and trendiness to the look. Trendy green tassel earrings with beads from H&M add a dash of glamour to the look and prove that a t-shirt and jeans combo can be glam.
Outfit 9: White Tee and Palazzo Pants
I’ve got another easy, relaxed outfit idea for you. It has a white tee and printed palazzo pants, two ultra-comfy choices for when you have nothing to wear.
You can wear a white tee with anything — that doesn’t need explaining. Palazzo pants, however, you might not think to buy. They’re actually great to own, though, as they are both comfy and stylish. The paisley print on these ones has a boho-chic feel. Brown strappy sandals with a chunky heel give you height without sacrificing comfort.
Gold layered necklaces are simple and let the pants do the talking. Finally, a floral tote with a wristlet adds femininity and print-mixing action.
Outfit 10: Jumpsuit
Jumpsuits are crazy easy to dress up and down. Therefore, they are great pieces for when you have nothing to wear because you slip one on and don’t have to worry about adding another piece. This chambray jumpsuit will keep you cool (both figuratively and literally) in hot weather. A dark cardigan can be worn if needed on chilly evenings and contrasts with the lighter color of the jumpsuit.
Espadrille wedge sandals are a great summer piece to wear with the jumpsuit because of their color, while a fringe tote adds a trendy flair. Two studded bangles, both gold and silver, add some sparkle to this summer-ready look. Finally, a lemon charm bangle adds a dash of summer fun.
Outfit 11: Cold-Shoulder Top and Joggers
White and black form a great color combo for those who think they have nothing to wear. You definitely have these two colors in your closet, so wear them together and you’re set. The boho vibe of the white cold-shoulder bell sleeve top contrasts with the sporty feel of the black joggers. A cold-shoulder top and joggers combo is an unconventional outfit we love to throw on during the summer.
Slip-ons are easy to put on and these leaf-printed ones from H&M are so chic. Stacking on silver rings adds some interest to the look, and a floral headband matches some of the colors on the shoes.
