Anna Sui for Target Lookbook
Anna Sui’s Gossip Girl-inspired collection for Target won’t launch until September, but it is already generating lots of buzz. In case you’re out of the loop, Anna Sui announced a few weeks ago that she will be doing a capsule line for Target, following in the footsteps of Alexander McQueen, and the line will be inspired by the four main female characters from Gossip Girl. The line will be available in Target stores and online September 13th through October 17th.
I know many of you are Gossip Girl fans, so I thought I’d update you on the latest with this line. When it launches in September, it will be a great chance to get some Gossip Girl style at budget-friendly prices!
If you’re curious about Anna Sui for Target, here’s your chance to check it out – I’ve posted the photos from the lookbook below. There are 19 looks in the collection, each inspired by one of the four main female Gossip Girl characters (Blair, Serena, Jenny, and Vanessa).

I really like the looks. However, I do wish the colors varied a little more within each character’s looks. At first I liked Blair’s look the best, but after looking at it Iike Serena’s a lot too. I can’t pick just one!

I feel as if these outfits are too trendy for what’s going on now, and will definitely go out of style soon, except for a couple of outfits. i.e. the 4th blair inspired look.
I don’t understand how the designer picked such boring colors and patterns for Serena. Since Serena is always in the spot light, she usually wears studs, sequins, gold, bronze, silver, etc. colors to help her stand out. Athough I do understand the other gossip girl inspired looks.

I am not that impressed by the outfits but my favorite would have to be Blair’s 3rd dress (the white/cream one with the blue bow). Super adorable. I am thinking about possibly adding a skinny teal belt – any thoughts? How do u think it would look with ankle boots? or is it better with heels?

Surprisingly I like more of the Blair’s than any of the other girls. I’ve always admired her style on the show, but never really thought it was “me.” My favorites – the 5th Blair look and second Vanessa one. Thanks for the update! I’ve been looking forward to this line.

I love how there is a basic color scheme for each character, although I wish the color scheme’s varied more from each other… I cannot wait to buy these looks! I really hate them to be completely honest. If it’s inspired by Gossip Girls she did a really bad job, but it’s all opinion. None of the girls’ signature colors are represented and they look very cheap. I think you could pull off a better wardrobe by choosing pieces yourself from Forever21. If there would be one I’d buy it’d be Jenny3.

I’m really disappointed! They havn’t done justice to gossip girl fashion. I absolutely love vanessa’s look on the show but the anna sui vanessa clothes look terrible!

Three words: not enough colors! And why are they almost all dresses? Personally I don’t think any of those ‘looks’ look like anything from the show. But my favorite is definitely the Serena look.

I think this looks exactly like what it’s supposed to be — an affordable, wearable Gossip Girl collection. Not exactly on par with the show but recognizable by character, by style. Agree with the other posters that the colour scheme is lacking variation and vibrancy, but that would probably all cost extra.
Considering Anna Sui’s standard style, I would have thought she’d be all over the New Jenny look. Vanessa’s pumpkin palette here is definitely a miss… wearable and cute but not exactly screaming V.

I think all the collections are definetly cheaper and accessible versions of the Gossip Girl wardrobe- but if they didnt have the Gossip Girl name attached to them i probaly wouldnt find them very special.

i like blairs outfits the best..i can totally see her character wearing these on the show..jenny outfits really need to be improved… they are not really based on her character. i think serena has okay outfits but they arent really what she wears on the show…and vanessa has too much orange… she wears lots of colors not only orange….i feel like it isnt really based on the way the characters dress.

Great idea because I love the show, Blairs looks are on traget but would like more snooty prep school looks, BUT I think Jenny’s looks need more rocker edge, more old Courtney Love style and Serena needs more metalic gold.

I am very excited for the collection. I find pieces that I like in each of the characters. I think that the cream colored dress for Blair is my fav. I can see where the collection doesn’t fully represent each character but I feel it is a good mix of the characters and anna Sui’s designs. Yes, these looks are more on the trendy side but that’s the point when purchasing cheaper products. Why spend a couple hundred on a trendy designer dress you will wear once when you can find a good deal at target ? I really hope the shoes will be made available too

I was so excited when I heard about this collection… until I saw it. Other than Blair’s looks, I do not see a whole lot of inspiration from the show. Jenny and Vanessa’s looks are really far off as far as I’m concerned. Jenny’s supposed to be edgy, and I don’t see much of that. Where did those flowy hippie dresses come from? She has the best style on the show and I would not wear any of that, so it’s especially disappointing. And Vanessa may be a fan of vintage, but does everything have to look the same? Is that a puffy vest? What NYC teen would go out in that?

As much as I love Gossip Girl and the amazing fashion seen on that show, the Target line definitely does not and can not compare. But i’m pretty sure they made it that way for a reason and so the prices would be cheaper. One of the main things I noticed about the line (or what is shown) is that there is NO color. All the girls share the same color, except for Vanessa. And Vanessa has the same freaking pattern and color in each pair of clothes. Like really, could Sui not come up with anything better? Why so repetitive? I swear i’ve never seen Vanessa even wearing any of those clothes on the show! Or anything similar. Apparently they rarely ever show legs on the show, because all these models have leggings and boots on. Did I never notice that? That’s something I might want to pay attention to when Gossip Girl airs again. I was really excited for Jenny’s clothes, because I really liked her style. But I don’t like any of it. Could it be the model they chose? I think Blair has the best line, so far. Well, hopefully there are more choices than the ones shown.

Blair’s looks semi-authentic, but Serena’s only looks like her for the 2 dresses.
Jenny has worn things semi like outfits 2-4, but not really close. That one with the coat is practically ridiculous. Not something she’d typically wear.
Vanessa doesn’t wear those types of prints specifically, she’s usually much more varied. First one is the best, and while the 4th reminds me of Rachel, not Vanessa, I still like it.
The shoes do fit the characters quite nicely though, and I might purchase some of these items, but really, this is hardly a gossip girl look-a-like

I just wanted to say I LOVE!!! the new look for target this fall. I think it is fantastic and I really hope that the complete line will be at the Target Store in Inverness, Alabama on Hwy 280. Cause I will definetely be shopping there on September 13 thru the 17th of October.

I adore gossip girl and all of the fashion they feature on the show, but I’m disappointed by this line. It doesn’t really look like stuff the characters would wear. I would buy Jenny’s ankle boots and maybe her black coat, but that’s about it. I was really excited for this line, and the only ones that look like they’re from the show are some of Blair’s. I love Blair’s style, but it doesn’t really work with my current wardrobe, which is more like Jenny or Georgina.

I’d just like to say that I really love all the clothes I’ve seen above, and I think the shoes are beyond fabulous.
I understand a lot fans saying that the characters would never wear these clothes, because they wouldn’t.
Although, they didn’t say Anna Sui was taking exact outfits the girls would wear and designing them at target for a fraction of the cost.
Besides, you can’t expect a designer to rip off the exact clothes of another designer.
Each of the girls outfits are inspired from the girls’ own personal styles, and I think it’s a pretty awesome collection, all things considered.
I think Anna Sui has done a great job, and I know where I’m gonna be shopping Sept. – Oct.

Well, let’s see…
It is Anna Sui(Luv her!) so she’s going to have to recreate looks from her runways and incorporate them with these characters, not the other way around. It was Gossip girl inspired, but obviously it was still gunna be very much Anna Sui. And judging by these characters’ personalities and Anna’s style, she did a great job! Blair is prim, proper, girly, and preppy. This is shown. Serena, although wild at times, is very classy, put-together, and fashionable. This is also shown. Jenny is the punk princess, the wild child, or that is where her character is headed. I can see that here. Now, Vanessa’s colors are monotonous, but I see her vintagey attitude in the patterns and colors. The colors aside, the looks for Vanessa are vintage, urban, trendy, and with a sexy tomboy twist to them. That’s Vanessa alright! Plus, Vanessa could only afford Vintage. I can see what Anna was trying to do. This is what the Gossip Girls would wear if they purchased Anna Sui.
