If someone had told me a year ago that scuba suit material would make cute dresses, I would have rolled my eyes. But, the fact of the matter is that neoprene, a material usually used in swimwear, actually does make cute dresses. Because of the fabric's thick, form-fitting nature, neoprene dresses are incredibly flattering. Many styles are athletic-inspired and neon-hued for Summer 2013.

Alexander Wang has recently popularized neoprene dresses in his T by Alexander Wang line (pictured above left), and now more inexpensive versions are popping up in several fast fashion stores. Forever 21, Nasty Gal, and ASOS have several versions of scuba-inspired frocks.

Personally, I think these dresses have great staying power. They're easy to travel with, since neoprene is wrinkle-free by nature, plus these dresses can be made in a variety of shapes and styles. And, after all, what is more summery than a dress made of fabric you would wear to the ocean?
