What gets me the most excited about fall every year is definitely the fashion. Not only can you already see next spring's gorgeous clothing - thanks to fashion week - but it is an opportunity to really layer up and pull out your favorite cozy knit sweaters.
That is why I am super happy about our latest Trend Watch subject: Fair Isle prints. In case you didn't know, these prints are multicolored knit patterns inspired by the traditional and colorful knitting technique that originated in Fair Isle, an island in Northern Scotland.
Fair Isle prints are going to be more popular than ever this fall, and I am going to share three chic ways to wear this unique and cozy trend. Scroll down to see all of the looks!
Comfortable in Knit
This first look is casual and comfortable, but still very stylish. Pair skinny jeans with a cozy, oversized sweater, then add ankle booties in a complementing shade. The Fair Isle print is incorporated with this cute infinity scarf. Finally, add interest and a touch of glam with these sparkly stud earrings.
This outfit is so versatile; wear it when cramming in the library, going out for coffee, or hanging with friends. It would even be a great option to wear to class!
It's All in the Details
I like this outfit a lot because of the intricate details found throughout. What really makes it pop is the golden embroidery on the sweater, as well as the Fair Isle accessories. To create this look, I paired a burgundy-colored skater skirt with that embroidered sweater and a pair of classic black oxfords.
Keep things fun by accessorizing with an adorable Fair Isle print hair bow and knee socks with a matching pattern. I love the color combination of burgundy and navy, so let those colors shine by opting for black shoes and socks. This outfit is perfect for those times when you want to look extra cute!
This last outfit is probably my favorite because of all the contrasting elements. It is one of those ensembles you can just throw on quickly and still look stylish.
This sweater features polka dots, a Fair Isle print, and a white collar, and has a very preppy feel to it. I decided to pair it with very casual and grungy items, like torn high-waisted skinny jeans, a faux leather backpack, and black ankle booties. What really ties this outfit together is the military-style jacket, since it has a laid-back yet polished vibe.
