Spring 2011 Fashion Trend: Lace

Lace has been a popular trend for the past few seasons. But for Spring 2011, the delicate stretch lace seen in past seasons has been revamped — or rather reverted — to a more antique-style lace that is sturdier and more uniquely patterned.

To help you get ready for spring, I picked out some of my favorite new-lace items and put together 4 different outfits incorporating this trend.

Outfit #1: Pretty in Lace

I could see myself wearing this on a warm spring day at a quaint, outdoor café by the beach or running errands around town. To start, I found this gorgeous cream-colored lace dress from Urban Outfitters. A classic denim jacket dresses down the frock for daytime, and pretty jewelry plus these dainty, ruffled floral sandals complete the ensemble.

Outfit #2: Bohemian Rhapsody

Product Information:Top, Earrings, Bracelets, Shorts, Socks, Boots

This lace tank from LuLu’s encouraged me to put together a bohemian-inspired look. Ruffled ankle socks that peek out over the top of these awesome lace boots add an extra feminine detail to balance the boots’ ruggedness. Feather earrings like these are reminiscent of the feather hair extension trend, but less permanent. Finally, boho-chic gold bangles finish off the look. Oh! And don’t forget a cream colored cami for underneath the top!

Outfit #3: Lace & Legs

Product Information:Shorts, Top, Earrings, Shoes

While most girls live their springs and summers in denim cutoffs, take a fashion risk and, instead, try a pair of lace tap shorts. I tried these exact shorts on the other day and was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved them: They’re so comfortable and so unique! With such statement-making bottoms, there is no need to over-accessorize this look. Just throw on a simple black tank, cute drop earrings, and some nude oxfords, and you’ll be ready to go!

Outfit #4: All “Doily-ed” Up

Product Information: Dress, Earrings, Shoes

While I often like to create outfits that can be worn every day, I could not pass up this beautiful lace dress from Urban Outfitters – it’s absolutely perfect for a special night out. While black pumps would work well with this dress, I thought it would be fun to feature these red suede wedges instead. Pretty pearl drop earrings keep this look simple and timeless.
