Bill Blass Spring 2012 RTW | ELLE
Nautical-inspired outfits and summertime seem to go hand-in-hand, which is why for this week’s RLL post, we decided to feature the crisp and clean maritime clothing seen at Bill Blass Spring 2012 RTW.
The nautical-inspired collection featured well-tailored, classic pieces like double-breasted coats and striped t-shirts juxtaposed with modern items like jumpsuits, bandeau tops and maxi dresses. The fashion house also stuck with the traditional black, white, navy and red color palette, and — of course — incorporated an anchor motif.
Want to snag that trendy nautical look for just a fraction of the price? We’ve got you covered — just scroll on down to check out three budget-friendly interpretations of looks from Bill Blass Spring 2012:
1. Ahoy, Captain
The nautical aesthetic was readily apparent in this look, which featured a sailor-inspired blazer paired with a classic black-and-white striped tee. To keep the ensemble from looking too costume-y, the blazer and t-shirt were paired with crisp white shorts and modern gladiator sandals.

A black double-breasted blazer continues that nautical vibe, while flat sandals keep the outfit casual. Add a pair of cool aviator sunglasses and an adorable compass necklace to complete this look.
2. Anchors Aweigh
Bill Blass made the nautical trend workplace-appropriate with this look, which featured an anchor-adorned shell blouse paired with a crisp black pencil skirt. This timeless and chic outfit is a simple, yet statement-making way to rock this trend.

For this outfit, start with a white tee embellished with a bold anchor graphic. Pair the tee with a basic black pencil skirt, then add a pair of sleek pumps. Accessorize with some knotted stud earrings, which are a playful nod to the nautical inspiration at Bill Blass. For the finishing touch, add a pop of color by painting your nails a classic red. This outfit is a great example of how you can totally transform a basic t-shirt by dressing it up with a skirt and heels.
3. Stripey Goodness
Maxi dresses have been big for a while now, but this red and white vertical striped number is a fantastic maritime-inspired take on the trend. Blass kept the styling simple with neutral sandals and slicked-back hair, which allowed the bold frock to be the true focus of the look.
