Since CF readers are the perfect people for the following job, I thought I’d post this internship listing here first so you guys could apply. This listing will go public on job boards and the like over the next few weeks, so if you’re interested in a rad internship for spring, be sure to apply ASAP.
Are you a college student obsessed with fashion? Love to write? Want to have your writing read by hundreds of thousands of college students? Looking for a fun internship doing something you love?
If so, College Fashion is currently looking for interns for the Spring 2010 semester.
Responsibilities include lots of writing, researching, editing photos, and keeping up with the latest trends. Interns will be expected to contribute 1-5 blog posts a week and will be able to choose their own topics and set their own hours. Interns should be able to start work on or around January 1st, 2010 and continue through June (end date can be flexible).
The ideal candidate would be enrolled in college as of Spring 2010 (Recent grads will also be considered), passionate about all things fashion, responsible, hard working, self-motivated, creative, and organized. Preference will be given to candidates with prior blogging experience – even if it’s just a personal blog. Interns should have a strong command of the English language and should be able to handle writing on a deadline. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and WordPress blogging software is a plus.
Why intern at CF?
This is an excellent opportunity if you’re interested in fashion or journalism and want to expand your writing portfolio and get your name out there. Writing for College Fashion will give you real-life fashion writing experience and will be an impressive reference on any resume. CF interns will walk away with fashion and media industry experience, improved web writing skills, free swag, and possibly even a full-time job.
Perks of being a CF intern include having a fun job, testing out new products before they hit the shelves, networking within the industry, and possibly the occasional celebrity interview. Also, since this is an online internship, you’ll be able to work from any location and (for the most part) choose your own hours.
College credit is available, and outstanding interns may be offered continuing paid positions at the end of the internship!
How to Apply:
If you’re interested in writing for College Fashion, send an email to [email protected] with Spring Internship as the subject. Include the following:
1. Samples of your writing (include your blog URL if you have one) – the more relevant the better! If you don’t have experience writing fashion or blog-style articles, write up a sample CF article to show you can handle it. Extra bonus points if you include pictures or a Polyvore set!
2. A list of topics you’d like to blog about – be specific. If you get the internship, what topics would you most want to cover on CF? If you could have a weekly column, what would it cover?
3. Your top 5 favorite fashion trends right now
4. Where you go to school and your class year
5. Information on any relevant experience that qualifies you for this job
Basically, I want to know why you’re the perfect CF intern. Standard resumes and cover letters are boring, so the more personal and creative your application, the better. Can’t wait to hear from you!
