Mario Grauso, president of Joe Fresh, gave the following statement:
“By mutual agreement, Joe Fresh and JCPenney have determined not to renew our existing distribution agreement that expires on Jan. 30, 2016. This decision is driven by changes to our respective growth strategies."
Back in 2013, Joe Fresh shops for men, women, and children originally opened in 683 JCPenney stores. Now, only 200 locations sell Joe Fresh, and the children's collection was also phased out.
A retail analyst spoke to WWD about why the JCP/Joe Fresh partnership is ending:
“Joe Fresh wasn't what the customer at JCPenney wanted. It’s the right decision to pull it out. They can make more room for something else.”
What do you think about JCPenney getting rid of the Joe Fresh shops? Did you ever buy any Joe Fresh clothes at JCP? Do you agree that it was time to end the partnership? As always, tell us what you think by leaving a comment.
