Sabrina Carpenter is a 20 year old American singer and actress. She is best known for her role as Maya on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World and for her 2018 album Singular Act I, which met critical acclaim.
I’ve been a fan of Sabrina’s for a while now, so naturally this week’s fashion inspiration post is dedicated to her newest release, Singular Act II. The album is chock-full of sultry pop anthems, whilst the accompanying music videos showcase Sabrina’s amazing, eclectic sense of style.
Seeing as this album has been on repeat on my Spotify for the past week, please see the link above for your listening pleasure. And without further ado, let’s get into the Sabrina Carpenter Singular aesthetic!
Fashion Inspired by Singular Act 2
Sabrina Carpenter Outfit 1 – In My Bed
In My Bed opens Singular Act II. It’s a fun, electro-pop track with dance influences and a distinct MV aesthetic. Though Sabrina wore many impressively en-vogue outfits in this video, I think her Blake Lively-esque neon suit is the best of the bunch.
To make the look more wearable for the summertime, I chose a suit co-ord in a slightly more muted tone. Dressed up with a black clutch and platforms reminiscent of those adored by Taylor Swift, this is the perfect day-to-night transition outfit for when it’s just hot outside.
Sabrina Carpenter Outfit 2 – Pushing 20
Moving along to track 2, we have Pushing 20, which I loved from the first listen (it’s definitely a contender for my favorite song from Singular Act II). This was the first single released as promotion for the album, with the lyric video providing more casual-meets-neon style inspiration!
Plus, check out the Harry Potter reference on that birthday cake. Iconic.
To get Sabrina’s look from the MV, simply pair a blue denim jacket with matching jeans, neon pink sock boots, and a trendy tape belt. I recently purchased a similar belt to this on Nasty Gal (inexpensive accessories like these can really elevate an outfit) and I’m obsessed with neon, so this look is a winner for me.
Sabrina Carpenter Outfit 3 – I’m Fakin
I’m Fakin is my next source of Sabrina style inspiration. The song describes a will-they-won’t-they relationship, featuring clever lyrics and a catchy chorus. For this look, I decided to emulate Sabrina’s red lace dress from the Singular Act II promotional photos.
Therefore, I’ve come up with a viable summer wedding outfit that’s bound to turn heads. This Boohoo midi dress (featuring a halter neck and scalloped lace effect) would look stunning teamed with simple nude accessories and an elegant updo.
Sabrina Carpenter Outfit 4 – Tell Em
Ah, Tell Em. Track 6 is my favorite track of all – and with good reason. In the album’s second act, Sabrina channels her inner Ariana Grande with breathy vocals and beautiful ad libs reminiscent of those on Ari’s iconic thank u, next album.
To me, Tell Em encapsulates Singular Act II‘s sultry vibe, so I’ve taken inspiration from Sabrina’s gorgeous album-cover ensemble for this look.
Her black lace dress with embellished bardot-detail is stunning and probably (very) pricey. So, here’s a cute and affordable mini-dress alternative in a similar style.
Sabrina Carpenter Outfit 5 – Exhale
Finally, track 7 is Exhale, the album’s second single. This pared-back song is one of Sabrina’s most personal, touching on the topic of anxiety. In the video, S wears a casual, everyday outfit to complement the song’s serious message and simple arrangement.
To capture this aesthetic, I’ve paired a black turtleneck bodysuit with straight-leg jeans, a denim jacket, and statement patent boots. To add some interest, consider these ’80s-inspired scrunchies for a laid-back, Stranger Things vibe.
