Valentino Resort 2014 | Style.com
Valentino’s presence on the fashion map - since 1959! - is no fluke. Season after season, the Italian fashion house has created fabulous and put-together looks, and Valentino's Resort 2014 collection is no exception.
The collection is the perfect combination of relaxed and sophisticated, and creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli put out trousers, jumpsuits, t-shirts, and dresses in a variety of fabrics and prints.
There was denim as well as Valentino’s renowned lace, and between the nautical-inspired stripes, neon colors, florals, and even camouflage, it’s safe to say that this collection has something for all style aesthetics!
In love with this season’s resort collection but aren’t into the designer price tag? Continue reading for three wallet-friendly outfitsinspired by Valentino’s easygoing and chic resort collection:
1. Laid-back Lace
This outfit - my favorite look from Valentino Resort 2014 - is a perfect example of how to dress down lace and dress up a white t-shirt this summer. The combination of cream and white is a bit eclectic, but still very on-trend. Also, the cognac-colored tote and deep red shoes add richness to the otherwise light-hued ensemble.

You can easily recreate this look by pairing cream-colored lace shorts with a laid-back boyfriend-style white tee. Grab a cognac-hued tote and a pair of berry-colored espadrille flats, then accessorize with a few gold studded bracelets, which mimic the iconic Valentino rockstuds from the original outfit. We think this getup would be perfect for a casual summer day!
2. Navy and Wine
Navy is probably the most under-appreciated neutral, but it really adds a sophisticated touch to any outfit. Here, it was paired with a rich wine hue to create an unexpected yet totally fabulous color combination. This well-tailored navy romper is easy to dress down or up, and the wine-hued boots add a preppy, equestrian vibe to the look.

Start with a navy romper - this one has an edgy zipper detail, plus the lightweight fabric makes it ideal for super warm summer days. Accessorize with a navy cross-body bag and add a pair of wine-colored booties. These boots have gold buckles, which play off the gold accents found on the bag and romper. Lastly, add a swipe of blush to mimic the model’s punchy pink cheeks!
3. Floral and Neon
It seems as if neon is becoming as much of a warm weather staple as floral prints. Valentino’s Resort 2014 collection featured a few looks that incorporated neon, but this one was our fave. Neon green and dusty pink is pretty much the best color combo ever, and the floral print jacket adds a subtle dose of femininity.

For a similar look, opt for a high-neck lime green blouse and a pair of silky dusty pink shorts. Add a trendy floral print kimono jacket with a pink-and-white color scheme. Continue to channel the original designer outfit with a chic fold-over tan bag and matching strappy sandals. Keep your makeup light and girly to truly mimic the model.
