When it comes to summertime fashion, we love outfits that exude a stylish, yet low-key vibe – something that’s super-chic, but also  looks like it was effortlessly thrown together. When it comes to that particular aesthetic, no collection nails it better than Rebecaa Minkoff Spring 2013.

We love the way this collection takes items many college-aged women already have in their closets – like denim shorts, blazers, and flowy sundresses – then styles them in chic, unexpected ways.

Want to see how you can get a runway-worthy look on a college student’s budget? Below, we’ve created three inexpensive outfits inspired by look from Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring ’13 show. Scroll on down to check them out:

1. Casual Cool

A graphic t-shirt and a pair of shorts are the ultimate low-key summer combo, but as Rebecca Minkoff demonstrates, adding a blazer can change up the whole look. It gives polish to this casual outfit, while still maintaining an effortlessly cool vibe.

Recreate this look for less by pairing white shorts with a gray graphic tee. Then, add a blazer – this printed one adds a fashion-forward flair, but a solid-colored blazer would also do the trick. Black gladiator sandals continue the casual vibe, while a matching cross-body bag is a practical choice. Accessorize with an oversized cocktail ring to complete the outfit.

2. Laid-Back Glam

Another casual look we loved at Rebecca Minkoff’s spring show combines scalloped shorts with a tie-waist blouse to create a summer-worthy ensemble. The high-waisted shorts are balanced by an oversized button-up, while on-trend strappy shoes make legs look mile-long.

To start, grab a pair of high-waisted denim shorts – these ones from Nasty Gal have a similar wash and scalloped design to the pair from Rebecca Minkoff. Add a floral print tie-waist blouse, as well as a some funky wedge sandals. Accessorize with a summer-y colorblocked tote and a pair of drop earrings. Lastly, paint your nails a seafoam green color similar to the polish the models wore on the runway.

3. Layer Up

The final look we chose from Rebecca Minkoff ’13 is a bit more unconventional than the previous two, but still makes for a chic summertime outfit. By layering a flowy dress over a more fitted frock, the designer creates a layered look that is all about textural interest. Plus, this is a fab way to repurpose a too-sheer white frock.

Mimic the above look by layering a lightweight LWD over a geometric print bodycon dress. Add a pair of strappy black wedges, then accessorize with some stacked bangles. For the finishing touch, create soft, beachy waves by spritzing a bit of sea salt spray into your hair.
