For the past week, I’ve been the Czech Republic’s capital, Prague. It was my first time visiting both Prague and the Czech Republic in general, and I completely fell in love with it.
It truly is a beautiful place, full of gorgeous architecture, weird and wonderful art, quirky stories and, much to every fashion-obsessed girl’s delight – amazing shopping.
If you cast your minds back to the very beginning of Summer, and my first ever Unexpected Style Inspiration post, about my native Scotland, you’ll remember that I used some Scottish things as inspiration for different outfits.
Since I’m now completely obsessed with Prague (I’ve decided I now want to get married there, at the TV tower, which I’ll talk about shortly), I thought I’d use some of the things I saw in Prague as inspiration!
So, here are 3 looks inspired by 3 of my favorite things in Prague (featuring some pictures I took whilst I was there!):
1. Žižkov Television Tower
Completed in 1992, the Television Tower is in the Žižkov Region. It may be a television transmitter, but it’s also a viewing platform and features some amazing views of the city. And as for those little black things you can see on the tower? Crawling baby sculptures. Yeah, it’s a weird one.
It may have been voted the second ugliest building in the world, but I think it has a certain charm. And it certainly makes for a cute outfit. Start with a structural grey dress, add chunky black boots and a sleek black bag. Mimic the bleakness of the tower and residents criticisms of the (so-called) eye sore with this amazing “ugh” beanie, and give a nod to the tower’s television roots with this TV-inspired phone case.
2. Astronomical Clock
Possibly the most famous tourist attraction in Prague is the beautiful Astronomical Clock. It’s the third oldest astronomical clock in the world, installed in 1410, and also the oldest operating one. It truly is amazing, and the detail on it is fascinating, so of course it lends itself well to an outfit!
The ornate detailing on the clocks edges can be translated into this intricately detailed top, and these amazing boots have a pop of gold, similar to the clock itself. Add this starry bag and moon bracelet (who said astronomy wasn’t stylish?), and of course, finish with your very own clock in the form of a cool watch.
3. John Lennon Wall
Now, we’ve come to my absolute favorite part of the city. The John Lennon Wall was once a normal wall, but since the 1980s it has been filled with John Lennon-inspired graffiti, including messages about peace and love, and plenty of Beatles lyrics. Every day, people paint new messages over it, so it’s constantly changing. It’s an incredible sight, full of inspirational and motivational quotes and sayings.
To channel the wall’s vibe, start with this colorful dress. Add a pair of round glasses inspired by John Lennon himself and some equally colorful accessories, and finish off with these peace sign earrings to complete the look.
