Every week, I scour the web to find inspiring outfits on your favorite celebs and help you recreate their looks! This week, I was inspired by Victoria Beckham, Olivia Munn, and Mischa Barton. Read on to see how you can get their looks for yourself.
Look 1: Victoria Beckham's Preppy Chic
Victoria Beckham stepped out in NYC this week in an ultra chic ensemble, giving a high-fashion twist to a classic, preppy look.
The fashion designer wore a chunky white knit turtleneck sweater over a pair of cropped, wide-leg plaid trousers and a neutral colored pair of heels. She accessorized with angular black sunglasses and carried a structured clutch bag in a mahogany hue, which added some warmth to the color palette of her look.
Outfit Inspired by Victoria
Victoria's sleek ensemble is perfect for the season, with its heavier textures and plaid print. Plus, it can be worn day or night depending on the occasion. What's not to love?
These check print cropped trousers have a more tapered leg than Victoria's, making them a bit more versatile than her trendy culotte-style pants while still giving you a similar look. Wear a chunky turtleneck sweater over top in white or cream for a fresh feel.
While Victoria wore heels, some neutral colored ankle booties also work well with this outfit and are a bit more comfortable for daytime wear. Complete the ensemble with some dark cat-eye sunglasses and a pop of burgundy in the form of a structured clutch bag.
Look 2: Olivia Munn's Statement Boots & Bag
Actress Olivia Munn turned heads in a flouncy white shirt dress with bold, burgundy accessories. Olivia rocked some burgundy tie-back over-the-knee boots and carried a matching studded, structured satchel bag. The burgundy hues really popped against her stark white dress, and gave her look a bit of edge, while still keeping it feminine.
I love Olivia's ensemble for any upcoming holiday parties or nice meals out – while black OTK boots and accessories would also look great with her shirtdress, there's something about this deep red color that really stands out in a crowd.
Outfit Inspired by Olivia
This white shirtdress has a flouncey hem that gives it a similar vibe to Olivia's and has a "borrowed from the boys" feel that contrasts well with the flirty accessories. Over-the-knee boots are a major trend, but take a cue from Olivia and branch away from basic hues like black and brown in favor of a more vibrant shade like burgundy. These OTK boots feature a tie-back detail and covered heel like Olivia's, but at a fraction of the cost.
Since this ensemble is already quite bold, keep accessories limited to a studded, structured satchel bag in – what else? – burgundy, and some understated yet cool earrings, like these geo rhinestone ear jackets.
Look 3: Mischa Barton's Doubled-Up Denim
Mischa Barton donned denim on denim while out in L.A. this past week. Mischa rocked a pair of trendy step-hem jeans, which drew attention to her rugged-looking, paneled brown ankle boots. She also opted for a chambray lace-up blouse and a jean jacket in a lighter wash, creating a look that is affectionately known as the "Canadian Tuxedo."
The darker wash of her jeans helps to break up all of the denim, as does her burgundy colored crossbody bag, which adds a necessary pop of color. Overall, Mischa's outfit is laid-back but super cool.
Outfit Inspired by Mischa
To get Mischa's look, start with some distressed step-hem jeans - they're totally on-trend right now. While tons of brands are currently carrying step-hem styles, you can also transform skinny jeans you already own into step-hems with a few snips of your scissors.
Pair the jeans with some rugged brown ankle booties – these have a black elastic panel that makes them similar to Mischa's boots – for a casual daytime look. On top, rock a woven blue lace-up blouse. Double up on the denim and wear a light wash jean jacket over top, and be sure to include a pop of color with a burgundy chainlink crossbody bag.
