Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. Class to Night Out focuses on one piece per week, and aims to help you take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.
Pardon the cliché rhyme that I’m about to drop on you, but chambray is here to stay. (Okay, that was pretty bad.) But seriously, guys, chambray is so cute, so classic and so much softer than regular denim… how could we not fall in love?
As you may have already guessed, chambray is a huge spring trend, and when I started seeing printed varieties of this fabric everywhere, I was so inspired. From florals to abstracts to dots to nautical themes, these pretty prints can add a feminine, rustic or edgy vibe to any chambray piece – there’s something for everybody. So this week I thought I’d show you how to style a printed chambray button-up (I went with anchors – my inner prep wouldn’t have it any other way) for both a day of class and a night out. Get ready for the outfits!
Printed Chambray: Class
Dare to rock double denim for your class look by pairing your chambray top with high-waisted, dark-wash jeans. Some people can’t stand denim-on-denim, but I think it looks really chic as long as the cuts are classic and the wash varies enough. It’s all about having the right accessories, too. Add a bright pop of color with a coral belt and matching earrings, and try a pair of pretty flip flops with geometric detailing to keep the look on-trend. Grab a girly tan satchel and head out the door in style!
Printed Chambray: Night Out
Create a feminine, retro-inspired night look by pairing your top with high-waisted eyelet shorts. This creates a classic, ultra-girly silhouette that screams springtime. Next, add balance with a tan belt and matching bag, but grab a pair of mint wedges to mix things up a little. Complete the look with fun and feminine jewelry like a bold coral bracelet and pastel drop earrings.
