If you ever find yourself stuck in a style rut, playing with fun new color combinations is a great way to liven up your wardrobe. In this series, we feature unique and unexpected color combinations, then give you stylish outfit ideas so you can try out these color combos yourself. For more color-centric outfit ideas, be sure to check out our previous posts on combining Red + Pink, Mint + Mustard, Peach + Gray, Orange + Blue, Fuchsia + Teal, Olive + Coral, Black + Orange, Purple + Yellow, Red + Green, Black + Brown and Pink +Purple.

Since it’s Pantone’s color of the yearand the fact that St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, we figured that this month was the perfect time to feature the über-trendy emerald green in one of our Color Combo posts. Many people are wary about wearing green with blue, but we love the idea of pairing emerald with a cool cobalt blue for a bold and fashion-forward look.

Need some outfit ideas before you rock this color combo? Simply scroll on down to check out four stylish outfits featuring cobalt and emerald:

Outfit #1: Modern Classic

Look cute on campus with this classic, yet modern, cobalt and emerald outfit. Start by pairing a cobalt striped top with a green A-line skirt. Woven flats and a scalloped handbag give this look a polished vibe, while these jeweled earrings incorporate both blue and green tones.

Outfit #2: Casual Colorblocking

For this look, pair emerald green skinny jeans with a polka dot blouse for a casual, yet put-together outfit. A cobalt cardigan creates a color-blocked look, while loafers add a menswear-inspired touch. Last but not least, accessorize with a delicate horseshoe-shaped charm necklace.

Outfit #3: Spring is in the Air

For a dressy outfit incorporating this color combo, start with a cobalt blue sundress. Emerald-hued sandals keep things cute and casual for spring, while a textured handbag adds interest. Accessorize with a bracelet that features both colors, then add a white bangle for a modern touch.

Outfit #4: Cute & Low-Key

This final outfit pairs a graphic tee with bright, cobalt-colored shorts for a laid-back, yet stylish look. Emerald TOMS not only mimic the green found on the tee, but are also a super-comfy choice. Accessorize with a gold feather-shaped ring, then grab a pair of retro-inspired shades to complete this look.

This is such an interesting colour combination, though I don’t if I’m bold enough to actually pull it off, haha.

I gotta say, this is the first time, in a really long time, that I’ve liked every outfit in a CF post. Please continue this trend of awesome outfits that don’t include ridiculous heels for a college campus!
