Am I the only one who daydreams about gliding around Rockefeller Center at Christmas every time I see a picture of a skater skirt? They’re my winter skirt obsession, and if you don’t have one yet, may this post serve as a glowing recommendation.
Ultra-girly with a hint of retro edge, skater skirts are totally underrated, especially when you consider the layering possibilities! This week, I’ll be showing you how to style a bright red skater skirt (is my holiday excitement showing?) for both a day of classes and a night out.
Skater Skirt: Class
Skirt, Sweater, Tights, Boots, Satchel, Earrings, Necklace, Nail Polish
Turns out it is possible to look cute in the cold! Layer up with a pair of black sweater tights (add knee socks or leg warmers for extra coziness) and edgy black combat boots that are just as fashionable as they are functional. Pair your skirt with a black cat graphic sweater for a chic outfit that’s adorably girly (and oh so Taylor Swift). Accessorize with a classic black satchel, studded heart-shaped earrings, and a key charm necklace. On-trend gray-green nails complete the look.
Skater Skirt: Night Out
Skirt, Blouse, Belt, Pumps, Clutch, Bangles, Earrings
Get a little retro glam for a night out by pairing your skater skirt with a leopard blouse, and cinching your waist with a pretty belt. This creates a classic and feminine look that still has a modern edge. Accessorize with ladylike classics – pearl bangles, matching bow-shaped earrings, and an envelope clutch with a metallic glow will do the trick. Complete the look by adding classic black heels… with a twist. How awesome is the gold toe detail on these? Gotta say, this look would be perfect for any holiday party. (What? Halloween is over. I’m already blaring my Christmas music!)
What do you think?
How would you style a skater skirt? Are you loving this trend for fall and winter? Are you as excited for the holidays as I am? Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments!
I love skater skirts! Glad that you made this post. I live in Florida, and the weather is pretty moderate, meaning that I can easily get away with these kinds of skirts and tights. It’s nice.
They look really cute, I’ve been wanting to get one of these and a skater dress, but haven’t had the chance!
