Do you struggle with transforming your outfits from day to night? Don’t worry, CF is here to help turn that daily annoyance into a fun challenge. This column will focus on one piece per week, and teach you how to take your look from study sessions in the library to dancing the night away.
Though most of us were skeptical when jeggings hit the fashion scene last fall, I know I’ve definitely given in to the trend. Who knew traditional jeans could be so restricting, or uncomfortable? Jeggings have proven themselves to be a college girl’s best friend – the best pairs look just like normal ultra-skinny jeans – but you can actually move in them!
This fall, jeggings are hotter than ever, but with a slight twist, coming in prints from leopard to polka-dot to ikat. This week, I’ll be showing you two outfits – one for day, one for night – featuring a pair of jeggings with a subtle print that’s class-appropriate but with just the right amount of edge.
Printed Jeggings: Class
For class, dress your jeggings up with a classic chambray oxford shirt and belt it at the waist for a more fitted look. Add a pop of color with fun fuchsia flats and matching geometric earrings. Tie the look together with a scholarly satchel in a neutral shade, and add a touch of sparkle with a glammed-up take on the ID bracelet.
Printed Jeggings: Night Out
Feel free to go as wild as the animal print on your jeggings for your nighttime look. Try a sheer top in a trendy color (I’m loving teal for fall!) with a black lace bandeau underneath. I’m a fan of this one from Aerie because it provides a little more support and coverage than the average bandeau. Accessorize with a super trendy spiked silver necklace and lightning bolt-shaped stud earrings. Finish the look with a pair of crazy wedges – the mismatched floral prints on this pair clash with the subtle print of the jeggings… in a very good way.
Have you succumbed to the jeggings trend? Would you wear a printed pair? Be sure to let me know what you think of the outfits and your favorite prints for fall in the comments – I’d love to hear your thoughts!
