Amidst all the students in hoodies and leggings (myself included) studying in the library to get away from the rain, I noticed Sarah’s bright and classic outfit immediately. Her outfit struck a great balance of comfort, color, and fun. There is no rainy day fashion item more timeless than a bold yellow raincoat.

Let's Talk Fashion
Who inspires your style? "No one really. I just pick what I like!"
How would you describe your style? "Whatever floats my boat for the day. I like comfort and color."
Where do you like to shop? "I do a lot of thrift stores and secondhand stores."
What fashion advice would you give to students looking to improve their style? "Just dress in what makes you happy [and] if it’s uncomfortable, choose something else. You can’t go wrong with something you feel comfortable in."
What are your favorite trends right now? "I’m not really up to date with all the trends but I like loose clothing like the Elephant Pants (a type of harem pant)."
If you could raid anyone's closet, who would it be? "Probably my mom. We have a similar style."
Elements of Sarah's Outfit
1. Yellow Raincoat
This classic piece of outerwear was what really drew me to Sarah's outfit. Santa Cruz is being inundated with rain and fog, so it's refreshing to see colors other than gray out there. A yellow raincoat is a classic staple that still feels current today.
2. Quartz Necklace
Sarah wasn’t wearing a ton of accessories, which really made her gold and purple quartz necklace stand out. It gave the outfit a unique and eye-catching element, as the rest of her style was focused on comfort. The purple quartz is a piece that can stand alone in any outfit.
3. Doc Martens
To accompany her classic raincoat, Sarah also wore some weathered black Doc Marten boots. These add an edgy component to her outfit while maintaining comfort and durability in the rain.
