Edgy style does not always mean wearing all black. This was apparent when I spotted Kristyna walking to class. Her slightly grunge ensemble and burgundy combat boots made her stand out from the dull campus environment on a cold Monday morning.

Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “Definitely the fashion from the ’90s. I really liked what people wore back then – those from the grunge scene, that is! So I’d say ’90s grunge is my big inspiration.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “Comfortable grunge.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “I really wanted to wear my brand new Doc Martens. And so I put together an outfit which would work well with them. I just love these shoes!”
What fashion advice would you give to other students, looking to improve their style? “Don’t be afraid to wear colors! Also, accessories are a great way of making a statement. Express yourself through accessories.”
Where did you buy the pieces you’re wearing today? “I got my jacket from Tally Weijl, my stockings from Calzedonia, and my backpack from Claire’s. The Doc Martens are second hand and the rest is all Forever 21.”
What do you like to do in your free time? “Lots of things. But I mostly like to listen to music and meet friends.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would you pick? “Charlie XCX’s.”
Elements of Kristyna’s Outfit
1. Burgundy Doc Martens
Kristyna’s high quality Docs are an ideal pick for an edgy student. Combat boots like these are a wardrobe must-have if you like all things comfy and cool! Especially in this beautiful burgundy shade, the shoes complete any look and make it pop.
2. Graphic Sweater
Punk is not dead! Neither is the edgy style that goes along with it, thanks to stylish people like Kristyna. She loves rocking this cool sweatshirt as a nod to her favorite music genre.
3. Denim Backpack (with button!)
A backpack, as we all know, is the perfect hold-all for long university days. Kristyna opted for one made of denim fabric, which goes so well with her too-cool-for-school street style. Double bonus: The badge on her backpack not only looks great, but it also carries a positive message of support for a charitable organization.
