Dressing for comfort doesn’t always mean disregarding your go-to trends and outfits. Rainer looked great on campus in a relaxed look that incorporated his favorite trends.

Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “Celebrity icons really inspire my style, like Jerry Lorenzo and Harry Styles, because their fashion sense is very innovative and is always changing.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “I would describe my sense of style as being a mixture of vintage and modern. I love vintage pieces, but at the same time I love trends with various and numerous modern twists.”
When did you start getting into fashion? “I was always into fashion and clothing but everything started for me when I was hired to be a visual specialist for Banana Republic and Gap. That’s when I really started getting into fashion, trends, and style.”
What are your favorite trends right now? “Some of my favorite trends right now are vintage cut and sew pieces.”
Do you have any favorite fashion designers? If so, who? “Some of my favorite fashion designers are Jerry Lorenzo from Fear of God, and Kanye West with his Yeezy line [because of] their vintage inspired cut and sew pieces.”
If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be and why? “If I could raid someone’s closet it would be Jerry Lorenzo just because he’s ‘THE MAN’ when it comes to fashion. Purely for his aesthetics and style. He really has it down when it comes to new and innovating clothing.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “I chose this particular outfit because it combines casual and formalwear. In my opinion it really comes together as a whole, but has that pop, which is the camel coat. My style mostly revolves around neutral and earth tone colors.”
What do you do for fun – do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “Photography has always been something I loved. I dabble [in] portrait photos and low-light. I absolutely love it!”
What fashion advice would you give to other students looking to improve their style? “I would say to really invest in vintage pieces, but keep them timeless. Don’t spend too much on statement pieces and focus more on basic essentials.”
Elements of Rainer’s Outfit
1. Camel Coat
With fall already here and winter fast approaching, having a jacket that will last you through different seasons and throughout the years is important. Sticking with a neutral color palette will help ensure you’ll wear the item for years to come.
2. White Adidas
Adidas, in case you haven’t noticed, has made a comeback this year and it’s impossible to walk around campus without seeing someone sporting a pair. Rainer rocks his Superstars with cuffed jeans.
3. Ripped Denim
My friends and I talk about ripped jeans constantly these days, which just goes to show the popularity of this trend. Although it they are a subtle detail of Rainer’s outfit, the rips on his jeans add a bit of edge and character to the ensemble.
