It is entirely possible that this week I interviewed the person who has the most fun with fashion in all of Boston. Not only does Annika have flawless winter style, she has a systematic way of dressing that helps her stay stylish all week. Read on for the details!
School: Boston College
Let’s Talk Fashion
Who or what inspires your style? “Ingrid Nilsen on YouTube is one of my favorite people to get inspired by. Her clothes are really simple but make an impact.”
How would you describe your sense of style? “I would say it’s effortless, but chic.”
What are your favorite trends right now? “I’m so on board with the chokers. I think they are the cutest thing.”
Do you have any favorite fashion designers? “Yves Saint Laurent is so great. I love how they make classic pieces super edgy.”
Why did you choose this particular outfit? “Striped shirts are a staple in my closet. I love that they go with pretty much everything. I also threw on some high-waisted jeans so my I was a little more covered.”
What fashion advice would you give to students looking to improve their style? “Don’t be lazy when it comes to picking out your outfits. My roommate thinks I’m crazy because I set my outfits out for the [entire] week [ahead of time]. But putting in the time makes all the difference.”
What do you do for fun? Do you have any unique hobbies or interests? “I love to run so much. It makes me feel so good. But if I’m not running, I’m watching Netflix.”
Elements of Annika’s Outfit
Annika loves to accessorize with simple pieces. Her Primark choker is a great extra that takes her outfit to the next level without being over-the-top or fussy. Chokers are everywhere nowadays and come in all sorts of crazy styles. But sometimes it’s nice to go back to the basics.
2. Striped Tee + Coat
Striped shirts, like Annika’s from Forever 21, are such an essential piece to have in your closet. They go with pretty much any bottom like Annika’s dark washed jeans from Hot Topic. I like to pair mine with pants that have small prints, like little polka dots. Plus, they make me feel so French!
Chunky heels are great for getting around on Boston’s cobblestone streets. Nothing is worse than getting your heels stuck in the ground. Annika’s booties have a bit of a utilitarian feel with thick tread on the bottom, perfect for strutting around the city.
We are dying to know what you think!
