For this week's post, I thought I'd share with you one of my beauty obsessions - YouTube!
YouTube was once a mecca for strange comedy videos and amateur singers, actors, and dance troupes. Now it has evolved into a community of sorts, one where you can basically talk about anything and it might just get three million views (The Bread & Milk guy, anyone?).
However, I like to keep my viewing in a very specific category of YouTube: the fashion and beauty area. You could say I’m mildly obsessed with watching people put on makeup or hold up products and talk about them. It’s a little strange when I put it like that, but I love watching their videos mostly because they show me tons of makeup looks that I can do with the products I already have. Plus, it's much easier to try a new makeup look when you can watch a step-by-step video rather than just staring at a picture.
Although CF has covered YouTube beauty vloggers in the past, I wanted to share my three absolute favorite YouTube beauty vloggers. Some definitely admit that they aren’t experts and then some actually are - scroll down to check out my picks:
1. Tanya Burr (pixi2woo)
Tanya Burr is a 24-year-old British makeup artist who lives in Norwich, United Kingdom. Besides YouTube, she writes for several beauty industry publications. She’s also judged the ELLE Beauty Awards and is engaged to a fellow YouTuber, Jim Chapman (the brother of Pixiwoo vloggers Sam and Nic).
I really enjoy watching her because she is an expert and can name any MAC eyeshadow shade just by looking at your eyelids. She’s much more technical than others, and really focuses on the application and technique of makeup application.
She’s most well known for making tutorials about celebrity makeup looks, a.k.a. making them easier for normal people.
2. Ingrid Nilsen (missglamorazzi)
Ingrid Nilsen, who goes by missglamorazzi, is a American YouTuber who is incredibly watchable and entertaining. She’s 24 and lives in Los Angeles with her cat, Nugget.
Her quirky personality is fresh and interesting and she’s very good behind the camera. That's probably why I love her videos and also the reason why she has 1.3 million subscribers. Ingrid focuses mostly on makeup tutorials as well, but also does “favorites” videos (as seen above) and product reviews.
3. Fleur (FleurDeForce)
My absolute favorite beauty vlogger that I obsessively watch every day is Fleur or FleurDeForce as she’s known on YouTube. She might be my favorite because she recently got married and documented everything (I love weddings!) or because she just seems like the sweetest human being ever.
She actually has three channels, her main one for beauty-related things, her bridal/wedding channel, and her vlog-type channel. She has two little puppies too, named Treacle and Squidge, who make cameos in most of her recent videos and just melt your heart.
YouTube is her only job, and it’s clear that she loves it! She does a lot of “Get Ready With Me” videos (like the one above) and tons of product reviews. She’s extremely honest when it comes to the reviews, which is very helpful.
What do you think?
Do you watch any of these vloggers? Do you have a favorite beauty/fashion YouTuber? If so, who is it? Let me know in the comments!
