Girl packing a suitcase

Spring break is just around the corner, which means it’s prime travel season for college students! Whether you’re flying to Mexico or just taking a weekend trip to an amusement park, you will probably be traveling somewhere over the next few months.

My biggest issue when traveling is deciding on what makeup to pack. I hate taking too much with me in fear of losing it: It would completely ruin my trip to find out that my Urban Decay Naked Palette had been lost or even worse, broken. Not to mention the annoyance of lugging around a heavy makeup bag! So I tend to bring only the essentials.

  • A Light/Dark Eyeshadow Duo – L’Oreal HiP Duo

I attempt to keep it as simple as possible for fear of losing my most prized make up. I bring primer, foundation/tinted moisturizer, brow pencil, eye liners, concealer, mascara and a tined lip balm. My list is pretty similar to yours I may bring eyeshadow if I know I’m hitting up the night life but otherwise, I love my make up too much to risk losing! now what is hard for me to keep simple is my skin-care routine..YIKES!

I 110% agree with the concept of packing lightly for makeup, very nice article! It’s a good idea to remind all those travelling to reconsider the thought that bringing favorite expensive makeup might not be a good idea. But if you have to another idea is to at least make sure that you pack it in your carry on or just slip it in your big purse so you at least always have it, it’ll reduce some loss/breakage risk at the very least.

Also, i think the suggestions are good and i’d probably take a couple of those, but most of these are liquid/cream based. I think another option is to definitely stick to your bareminerals (or knockoff) style powder based foundation and makeup. The list just made me think of sweating it all off immediately for anyone going southward/tropical. I went on a cruise last year and that stuff would’ve melted off in about an hour when i was outside and my skin isn’t even that oily.

Another good idea is the waterproof makeup for most people going to beachy type areas. If i rememer correctly i think cargo is the company that advertises a lot of waterproof makeup.

Thanks! I really liked the tips and the tutorial. I would add primer and especially blotting sheets. I don’t know about anyone else, but it seems like whenever i travel anywhere, my skin goes crazy and gets very oily. I really liked the idea of tinted chapstick! I always forget to bring lipstick, or (especially if you’re vacationing in a hot climate) it will melt in my bag.

I usually pick one or two eyeshadow palets and then bring some lip gloss/ lip stick or of I’m going on a long trip I just bring everything 😉 Great post!

    I love everyone’s added suggestions!

@maria The eyeshadow was doubling as eyeliner :]

@paula Haha me too! It’s L’Oreal’s ‘Tweet Me’

Kind of unrelated, but what nail polish are you wearing? I’m such an addict, but I don’t have any yellows!

I love the Sephora tinted moisturizer! This is very similar to my would-be travel packing list, but I prefer Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder… it’s foundation and powder in one easy step!

Nice article! I would say bring a lip/cheek tint instead of bringing a blush and lip color. 🙂
