While the royal wedding may be over, Kate Middleton's reign as a beauty inspiration is long from over. With her classic yet fresh hair and makeup, Kate inspires some easy-to-achieve, go-to looks! Make sure to check out our post on Kate Middleton's style to pair with our guide to Kate Middleton's makeup and hair below.

How to Do Your Makeup Like the Duchess

The Duchess of Cambridge's beauty style is a prime example of classic, simple makeup in a time when stars tend to "go weird or go home". Skipping the prosthetic facial-horns (here's to you, Lady Gaga) and color experimentation, Kate uses makeup to highlight her natural beauty rather than chasing a dramatic, theatrical look.

While drawing inspiration from Kate, it's important to keep makeup light and neutral.

Key Elements of Kate Middleton's Makeup Look:

  • Blush that complements your skin tone
  • Black or brown eyeliner
  • Groomed and defined eyebrows
  • Lipgloss

How to Get Kate Middleton's Beauty Look:

Start off by properly defining your eyebrows with a grooming kit, like Benefit's Brow Zings. I've mentioned this kit in so many posts, but I really do love it! The soft, pigmented wax creates a naturally gorgeous look. An important thing to keep in mind is to pick a shade that suits your natural coloring. Some eyebrow pencils or gels can have a red tint to them, so unless you have naturally red or reddish hair, stick to brown.

Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks, sweeping upward. Pick a shade that gives you a natural-looking flush. This can be harder to do with drugstore brands, so it pays to visit a makeup counter to get matched with a shade that works for you. Alternatively, while the color may look insane, Stila's Custom Color Blush has been said to be a great one-shade-fits-all blush (it "changes" to fit your skin's pH) and has received good reviews.

As for eye makeup, the key to Kate Middleton's eye makeup look is black eyeliner. To capture her exact look, line all the way around your eyes, including the inner rims. Polish off the look with a swipe of taupe eyeshadow and some black mascara.

For the final touch to a Kate Middleton-inspired look, sweep on a pink or berry lipgloss. Luckily for those of us who aren't royalty, you can pick up a lipgloss in a similar color to Kate's on the cheap - there are tons of drugstore dupes for her favorite shades.

Kate Middleton's Hairstyles

The common denominator in most of Kate Middleton's hairstyles is curled ends. Using a wide-barrel curling iron, give some wave to your hair, starting at about 4 inches up from your ends. Add a little shine serum to finish the look.

Curled ends add polish to every 'do, even when you leave your hair down (as pictured in the middle, above). To recreate the half-up hairstyle on the right, check out the article over at BellaSugar for awesome tips on how to achieve the look!

I absolutely love Kate's hairstyle on the far left - she rocks the fascinator accessory trend with class and polish. The feather piece skips the look of the big hats seen at the royal wedding and opts for a little accessorized fun. So make like Kate, and with your hair up (or down!), accessorize your 'do with a headband or hair comb.
