Would You Wear… Wax-Coated Jeans?

Awesome Wax-Coated Denim street style looks: 1, 2, 3
If you’re trying to mix up your denim game this spring, adding a pair of wax-coated jeans into your rotation is one way to look like a rockstar. These trendy jeans have a matte sheen and an almost leathery appearance, and have been growing in popularity over the last few seasons. Rocking some coated denim is the perfect way to stand out at night or give your daytime look some subtle shimmer.
It’s tough to say if waxed jeans have the potential to make a lasting fashion impression or if they will be a quickly passing trend. To stay on the safe side, we recommend looking for some at stores like H&M and Forever 21 instead of investing in a pair by Rag & Bone. Also, keep in mind that caring for a pair of waxed jeans may be difficult, so be sure to read the washing label!

I have a pair of raspberry wax coated denim pants from Zara and absolutely love them! They elevate a basic outfit, and provide a nice contrast in texture. I definitely reccommend!!!

There’s actually DIY’s out there for wax coated jeans! I used the technique for that and wax coated the sleeves on an old jacket. However, I do get nervous that pieces like this are too “trendy.”
Vanessa
The link to the pants doesnt work. And I want them!
Michelle
I would wear wax-coated jeans, they look really cute. I really like the greenish ones in the third look.
katie
I think these are really cute but I don’t see it lasting for a long time. I wouldn’t buy a pair unless they stuck around. I am a big fan of colored denim though!
Esther
I love the matte look of these! the middle photo is totally something I’d wear. might have to look into buying/making some.
Vanessa
Um..noo

How do you care for something like this? Washer/Dryer/line dry/what?
Tricia
Is that what these are?? I think I might have a pair then, I didn’t know they were trendy, hahaha. They’re comfy and light, versatile and edgy, I honestly love them and don’t care if the trend’s here to stay. I’m wearing them

I really love the 3rd street style look! And I would definitely rock these in the daytime but I see how they are more of a night time thing but the blue ones you picked out look like a day time thing. Great post!!

Fix the jeans link.

These are all looks that are trendy right now. I enjoy all of them. Follow my link.

The link to the jeans doesn’t work, it brings you to the nail polish.
But I’d rock a pair fursure.
cate
as you already know the link for the jeans sends you to nail polish but thanks for that because those are my favorite essie colors and I’ve been meaning to get a couple.

i’ve had a black pair since early 2010 and i still wear them to this day! they’re incredibly versatile and what i like best about them is that they don’t sag or become loose over time. just chuck them in the wash and they’re good as new again. wax jeans fade over time, though, granted i wear my pair at least 3x a week!
Mackenzie
The jeans link just goes to the nail polish…

I do not know what to really make of the trend as a whole, but the outfit was quite appealing…
Jasmin
LOVE these

I love the idea of these pants! I love the idea of a matte sheen to them. I wonder if you have to wash them a special way or if they’re dry-clean only. I especially like the second street style picture with the dark jeans with the wax sheen. I will most definitely look into this trend and probably try it out. I wonder if they’ll put wax on shorts!
Teresa
they’re cute, but I’m a little apprehensive about the care. how long do they keep their effect? does it fade/wear away over time?
Jenny in Jacquard
I like wax-coated jeans, but probably only dark shades like black or maroon. The blue jeans you picked out seem a little cheesy, but the examples are all gorgeous! Also love those Ked x Madewell shoes!

Bought a pair of black waxed denim from Zara last year as a cheaper, alternative to leather pants (some people actually think they’re leather at first!). These do last (dunno about other brands) and are easily washed (inside out, dry on low or cool). Since they’re in black, they go with EVERYTHING so for me, they are a staple rather than trend piece. They’re my fave pants.
PrefectHermione
No, I wouldn’t want to bother with the washing.
Kati
I am in love with this new trend.
Bianca
I like them!
Brittany
The first street style outfit is amazing and totally me! I wish I had a pair of these and a cute hat!
Isabella
I love wax coated jeans. I had a pair of grey ones about 12 years ago when I was 16 and I totally rocked them. So I am loving that this trend is back and hopefully hear to stay.
